Skeletons in the closet – a scandalous MMP

well, I tried to sleep in. I was dealing with the cat, by nudging her off the bed every. five. minutes., but then Gaia decided to let loose a large dose of lightening right. over. my. house. All the car alarms on the block started shrieking, mine included. So now coffee is brewing, and here I sit. Blurf.

Hey **Mom, ** can you squirt some of that water my way? We’ve got decent pressure but the flow is pathetic. We’re on city water, so I think we’re just doomed to living with undersized piping in the house.

TV guy commenting on the rash of fender-benders this morning - “What, you don’t want the car for the weekend?”

Not enough time, not enough coffee. Also not enough money, water or useful pain meds. And my giveadammer is broken.

Sorry, **gotti **- you need to move to the boonies so you can get your water the way God intended - from a hole in the ground!

Second load in the washer, 5 or 6 more to go, probably not all today, tho. Gotta save some fun for tomorrow.

Cousin’s standard answer when asked “Can I get you anything else?” is “More money and more paid vacations.”

She could at least ask for world peace…

Looooooong week but I am headed home today! I changed my flight so I get home at lunch time and not later this evening. This weekend will be quiet mr ems has to work so I am going to finish up the Greencard paperwork and get it ready to submit so I can get away from this company.

Hugs for spaz and yay for water pressure mom and boo for paperwork swampy

Clerk: “Can I help you?”
dogbutler: “I’m beyond help.”

I’m already running Open Office, but thanks, people that suggested it

He assured me it wouldn’t work with that, but seemed utterly unclear why… Being a bit of a moot point anyway, as their course program doesn’t seem to be working on my laptop- it keeps telling me I need flash, which I know I already have :smack: I have a heavy suspicion that getting it to work is going to be considerably more difficult than any of the actual coursework.

I’m happily covered in mud, after planting lots and lots of plants. Miraculously, it’s not actually raining yet today! Makes a change. Everything’s still soaking wet though, including me. Need to go have a shower before I go see the job centre, as I must in an hour, though; they probably wouldn’t take kindly to me squelching in like this.

Happy firday all!

Got that t-shirt. Heading down this weekend to attend business at the former home of Tugig. Not looking forward to it.

Um… did you want that bridge two lanes or four…? :dubious:

Well, I guess that depends on whether making passes at FCD counts as harassment.

It’s only harrassment if the other person isn’t interested.

… Or if somebody with clout is interested (either in you or in the other person)

Cats.

Cats?

**Nooner **- that’s what always killed me - the notion that “Harassment is in the eye of the beholder.” In an ideal world, person A says something, person B says “I find that objectionable.” Then person A says “Sorry -won’t happen again.” and life goes on. In reality, you can have someone getting all offended at something that wasn’t intended or directed in their direction, even an innocent misunderstanding, and immediately panties get in a wad and paperwork flows.

We had an engineer who went out of her way to be offended. She entered one guy’s cubicle and managed to position herself so that she saw a girlie calendar (not nekkid) that was pretty much only visible to whoever was sitting at the desk. She made a complaint to our EEO office (saying nothing to the guy whose cubicle she visited) and stirred up a lot of crap. I can’t imagine what she would have done if she saw the ashtray (back when you could still smoke inside) that had a picture of a woman’s, ummm, parts glued to the bottom so one crushed out one’s smoke on said parts. I thought it was gross, but I didn’t take it personally, and I quit looking at ashtrays after that.

And Nava, I don’t make passes at **FCD **- I make demands!

You should see the sexual harassment training they’ve instituted in the last year. Because of my grade, I was required to take SHARP Leader (Sexual Harassment/Assault Prevention) on line. It’s geared toward supervisors, but I’m not supervisor. Then I was required to take two more on-line courses, and finally, I still have to go to my face-to-face training. It’s just over the top and stupid. There aren’t enough roll eyes.

In the last few days (because this my birth month), I’ve taken CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radiation, Nuclear something or 'nother) training, HIPAA refresher, Suicide Prevention, one rolled up annual training having to do with all things here at the hospital), two Information Awareness courses, and about four other training courses. I still have to have my face to face HIPAA, my face-to-face SAEDA briefing, and two or three other things that I’ve forgotten. It’s just really, really stupid and time consuming.

It’s my RDO, but once again, the day is sucked up with errands. I’m going to run my rig through the car wash, probably get an oil change, and go grocery shopping. I also will fill the rig up with gas and make sure the tires are all inflated properly so we’re ready for our trek across the state to pick my son up.

Yeah - the other other white meat.

She comes over for cuddles, settles onto my shoulder, begins to purr - the minute I touch her, she nips my hand and jumps down. Hence: Cats.

eta:

 You’re now on my list! :stuck_out_tongue:

Ah, Cats.

Jesus. I’m a news photographer in Washington DC. I am more likely to be around this stuff than most. Training? What is that?

My training is a surplus Israeli gas mask and knowing which way the wind is blowing.
