Not even; waaaay back when, the living together was what made the marriage (except for some Important People), and the open marriages was (at least on the husband’s side and so long as he could afford it) nothing to call a scribe about.
Good morning! It’s grey and overcast, but no rain till maybe late, according to the weather dudes. I’m still waiting for a call from the well company to see if they’re coming out today to finish. Whether they come or not, I’m working in the house today - much cleaning needs to be done.
We have a pink rotary phone in the basement - it was here when we bought the place. Unfortunately, since we have digital phone service, it’ll receive calls but it can’t make them, so I disconnected it. I’m thinking of selling it - it’s too cool to sit in the basement collecting dust.
Yeah, what he said. Dang!!
**Spaz **- do yourself a favor and don’t talk to him… at least not yet. If you feel you need closure, write him a note and let someone else deliver it. In my totally unprofessional opinion, you need distance from him to get yourself collected and settled in a life without him. You know you can’t help him and you can’t fix him, but you can take care of yourself, and that should be your priority. In my opinion, anyway… {{{Spaz}}}
I love that we have our own Bad News Bear! That gave me a giggle! ![]()
Happy Thursday, all!
Blurf. Grumble.
Well guys are on their way - YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!
Need to stop stalling and get to work.
The TV news people are ranting goodnaturedly now about “cool beans!” and “irregardless” and now they wrap it up saying it’s on like Donkey Kong.
I think my scandals may win the thread, no?
My paternal grandfather did hard time for murder. His aunt (so my great-grandaunt) had a mental breakdown, took her older children to the barn and shot them, burned the house down with the youngest child inside, and then drowned herself. Two of my grandfather’s cousins committed suicide, there’s one who may have committed suicide (disappeared off the back of a steamboat; might’ve been a drunken mishap or might’ve drowned himself) and another spent her life in an insane asylum.
My maternal great-grandfather was in the Klan but was mixed race himself (he may have never known it). He was married twice and had eighteen children. His two wives were cousins to each other, so their children were simultaneously half-siblings and second cousins.
My maternal grandfather’s sister abandoned her family and ran off to New Orleans to be a hooker. She then found Jesus and spent her life lecturing everyone about morality. There ain’t nothing like a reformed sinner!
So whats wrong with that? It’s not like he’s a homosexual or anything. ![]()
Art’s Yarn Shoppe
(trolling to see if anyone else used to read CARtoons)
One of the sponsors of s TV show I liked was Max and Luigi’s Kosher Italian Diner ------ the food was fantastic once your brain stopped smoking from the general concept.
So what was their veal Parmesan like?
That is good advice and I shall be taking it. His brother’s the most likely person he’d go to so I’ll drop the note off with the stuff. Which I hope I can–I haven’t talked to Computer Boy yet and I left my phone on the desk* this morning so I can’t call him till I get back home this afternoon.
*This reads wierd to me after the discussion on rotary phones. Didn’t we always used to leave our phones at home and it was never a problem?
{{{Spaz}}} - Sometimes there are situations where nothing can be done to fix them, you just have to get the hell out of Dodge
Blurf.
My new 1950s sideboard comes home today.
Probably not as good as the Chicken Cordon Bleu.
You’re thinking of Pierre the Absent Minded Rabbi’s Kosher Bistro, no doubt.
He just called me at work a little while ago crying. I told him to go to the VA. I also told him I’d take his stuff to his brother’s but I don’t know if he heard me or not.
Revision: he has now called me twice more. I keep telling him go to the VA. I’m done. I’m not holding his hand anymore. That’s why there is a VA.
I just had a :smack: moment: I did not remember until Engine Company 3 came by the office building with si-reens awailin’ that I have bambilance duty tonight. Glad I remembered now, instead of 5 minutes after shift start.
I bought pizza for the well guys and they are my BBFs now!
Apart from the stuff they need to do to install the new water line, they pulled out a light post that we’ve been wanting gone, they capped our old oil tank so it’s no longer an issue, and they’re going to bury a big ol’ stump that’s been in the yard for years. All because of one meatful pizza! I also think they’re happy because we shortened their pipe run by a lot. They’re bringing it in the front of the house, so they didn’t have to take down the fence and dig a long trench. Instead, the water will come in near the window in my studio and be plumbed between the floor joists to the tank. Easy for them, no biggie for us.
All that’s left for me to do is writing the check - my hand is hurting already…
But I’ve had pizza, so there’s that.
Terrific ------- but the side dish of potato pancakes -------
It’s one of those “you had to be there” places. Basically three food prep areas, half the menu was classic Italian, half kosher deli, lots of places to sort of “mix and match” if you wanted to. The old guys who owned/ran it figured neither could make it on their own where they were (South Hills of Pittsburgh) so they basically teamed up. Like most good or unique things around here, it didn’t last.
Spaz, you can hold my hand any time you want. I have a high-paying job, I don’t drink but 2-3 beers a year, and I have no need of the VA. ![]()
ruble - it sounds like a place in Toronto (IIRC) called Ginsburg and Wong: kosher deli and Chinese food.
