Skin condition

I was feeling around my lower back with my fingertips and it felt like a bit rough. I remembered I noticed this some days ago and so, I decided to investigate further. In the batchroom mirror I could see some redness but not much as I have not yet developed the capacity to turn my head around like the girl in The Exorcist. So I took some pictures with the camera using the timer and I can see I definitely have something. I have some areas which are red and a couple of smaller areas which have developed a darker color and are dry and rough, almost like a scab. That is what I was feeling with my fingertips. It does not hurt or itch at all.

I have a suspicion it is probably a fungal infection but I have never seen one like this. I tend to get them over my upper chest in the summer, when I sweat a lot but it is just a bit of redness and I use antifungals and keep them in check so they never progress much. It is possible that this one has just progressed to a further stage because I did not catch it in time. I have probably had this for quite a while now. You can see the photo here.

My intention is to see use some antifungal stuff for the next few days and see if that takes care of it. If it does not get better in a couple of weeks I’ll see a dermatologist.

If anyone has seen anything like this before or has any other information or ideas of what it may be please share.

It could look like psoriasis. Of course, I would tell you to see a doctor or dermatologist.

Most likely dx is senile keratosis. But have a doc eyeball it, as it could be a ton of things.

It’s hell to get old. But it beats the other option.
