One of my Facebook friends (whom I’ve never met) is a filmmaker. (I have some of his DVDs.) One of his FB friends is the son of Skip Homeier, known to many as Dr. Sevrin on the Star Trek episode ‘The Way To Eden’. Homeier’s son posted on my contact’s timeline that his father, Skip, had died. I could not find any information on his death, and IMDb and Wikipedia both did not report him dead.
I was just looking to see what episodes were coming up on BBC America, and saw that ‘The Way To Eden’ is coming on later. Upon doing a new search, I see that Skip Homeier died of spinal myelopathy on June 25th, at the age of 86.
To clarify, the son posted right after Skip Homeier died, and I found nothing in the news, IMDb, or Wiki about it at the time. IMDb and Wiki do now show that he had died.
Mr. Homeier’s role as space Nazi Melakon was a nod to his career start as boy Nazi Emil Bruckner in stage and screen versions of “Tomorrow the World.” He is also memorably pwned by Gregory Peck in “The Gunfighter,” and was always good for creep value (e.g., “Stark Fear”).
