Are there any media player programs that let me skip past the misaimed PSAs and ten-minute long commercials at the start of a DVD? I currently use Media Player Classic, and a similar program would be great.
Yes, there are several. Two Free ones include MPlayer and VLC. Both are available for several computing platforms, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X.
I was going to mention ever dependable VLC too. If you’re going to watch the disc somewhere you don’t have access to a PC, DVD Shrink will allow you to selectively copy parts of the DVD (film and extras) without ads and the like.

One reason why I still like a VCR sometimes. I hate having to be forced into watching that crap.
