Slang in Trump's latest horror-tweet?

Tying women and blood together, tells me he fears women because they can bleed monthly and not bleed to death. I believe he has a deep-seated mistrust and dislike of women. He’s very insecure and covers it up with bravado.

Mika and Joe were going to start their July 4th vacation tomorrow, but have decided to stay on for one more day. Tomorrow’s show will be interesting.

But you did say it was a “pretty good tweet,” without any qualifiers. So people took it to mean both effective in the way you described, and a morally good thing that he did.

I think something like “It’s mean tweet, but it may be pretty effective” would have been better understood.

We used to stress to our kids the importance of “time, place, and manner restrictions” - adapting a 1st Amendment concept to teach manners and civility.

I suspect many (most?) of us speak differently in different situations/amid different company. You might drop a few more f-bombs with your poker buddies, than you do with your grandmother, or in church. Many (most?) of us - at least white collar college grads in positions of some responsibility and public contact, accept that it is not appropriate for us to express our every thought in however base language while doing our job. Hell, even sales clerks and fast food workers know this. But our president doesn’t.

I’m hesitant to psychoanalyze someone, even Trump, based on a couple of data points, but it is interesting that two different times, he’s talked about women and bleeding, and there was a remarkable amount of visceral disgust coming from him both times.

That just proves he’s not a vampire.

He could be a viscerally self-loathing vampire. Hungry for blood, but afraid of it. Especially the powerful and menacing blood of a woman.

That’s not very GQ, but it does fit the observed pattern. Jus’ Sayin’.

Most of us have had to face consequences for doing stupid things. Trump has lived his entire life protected in bubble wrap.

They should send Trump a thank-you note for the bump in ratings.

I was not there*, but I suspect some of our early presidents might not have had the decorum we think befitting of the office today. Did “tough guy” Teddy Roosevelt have any choice words for his critics? I know Truman had one fit of anger towards someone how criticized his daughter’s performance.

*old, but not that old

The very best bubble wrap.

But does it matter? Those people who were convinced long ago are pleased with this behavior then we can assume there will be eight years of Trump. I think the fact that it pisses off and offends the general demographic that posts on this message board is just icing on the cake for these voters.

I’m always wondering why there isn’t more of a push to change the voting structure to make it more in line with the popular vote - but that’s a discussion for another thread.

It’s the reaction of everyone else that matters.

Trump’s problem in this situation is that the public image he needs to project is so far at odds with reality. The image that Trump voters want is a scrappy underdog defying the powerful. Which Trump has never been. But at least as a candidate he could pretend to be the underdog. But now that he’s the President of the United States and literally the most powerful person in the world, the illusion is wearing thin.

When Trump argues with Mika Brzezinski, he’s not the underdog. When Trump argues with anybody, he’s not the underdog. He’s the king getting annoyed at a peasant who was mocking him.

Perhaps you are right - are you basing this analysis off of any particular data?

The latest data I’ve seen is from here, and it does not seem to support the claims you are making. Of course, this is getting a bit off topic from the specific incident in the OP, but if we’re talking about larger trends then I think it has some relevance.

However, of course, polls fluctuate and we’ll just have to wait and see how it all pans out in the long term. Only time will tell.

Like Louis de Pointe du Lac? He was far more sophisticated. And not vulgar at all. And I think his fingers were normal human-sized.

It doesn’t? That article is reporting once again how low Trump’s popularity is.

What they’re spinning as “good news” is that for the first time in his Presidency Trump does not have the lowest popularity that any President has had at that point in his administration. For the first time, Trump rose to having the second-lowest popularity. Assuming he can hold on to these numbers, he’s gone from 45th to 44th place.

But, hey, champagne all around.

Well, it’s a lot more than for “entertainment purposes only”. Etymology is essential to anyone reading the great philosophers, classical epic literature, poetry, works by Shakespeare or Milton, and for many in medical professions.

But just as important, YES, you are VERY right about using the “online etymology dictionary” to find out what a word means… …you’ll have as much chance of getting that correct as you have trying to drive to Philadelphia using King Charles II’s map of America.
