Today is sunday, so of course I slept in until 11a.m., getting 10 hours sleep last night. Then my wife and I stayed in bed until noon, uh, talking. So I am well rested.
Now I just got a call that I have to meet one of my clients at 6a.m., no getting out of it or changing the time. This means that in order to get there on time I’ll have to get up by 4:30! Theres no way I’m going to fall asleep tonight before 2 a.m., no way. And I am not drugging myself! Usually I don’t work on mondays, and on normal weekdays I start work at 10, so I’m used to staying up later. This is definately a curve ball!
So, what is the better thing to do: fight for sleep and go on 3 hours, or just stay up all night. It’s going to be a short day anyway (noonish). I think 3 hours is just when I go into that real deep sleep, just to be woken up by the alarm? Or, health wise, is 3 hours better than no hours?
Without a doubt…at least try to catch a three or four hour “powernap”. Don’t stay up all night.I feel it creates the mental “man am I beat,I didn’t sleep at all” condition.
If you can, uhm… talk with your wife for an hour in bed, then maybe you can ask her to help you fall asleep too
In any case, I suggest you get some sleep. Power naps are good, but they should be no longer than half an hour. If you want to go over that, then you ought to get 3 or 4 hours minium or you’ll be real messed up having to wake up from a deep sleep…
