Sleep? What's that? Quizzing the MMP

First of all, you are amazing. Second of all, cookies are my favorite food group (even better than nachos, which is hard to do). And third and most importantly, my mom is an odd duck when it comes to chemo - she’s also on antirejection meds for a solid organ transplant. Those meds make sleeping through the night without having to pee literally six or seven times very difficult, so she tends to sleep really poorly in normal circumstances. The chemo makes her sleepy, so she sleeps really, really well after having chemo and apparently wakes up feeling kind of amazing. She doesn’t feel really draggy until the third day, and so far hasn’t experienced much nausea (apparently those IV anti-nausea meds work really well).

I know intellectually that this won’t last forever, but I’ll take what I can get.

The stress test isn’t really a problem. I’ve had them before. It’s the runaround getting scheduled for the covid test. I was lucky. It only took me 45 minutes on the phone listening to terrible ‘music’ to get to a nice young woman who fixed me right up. It could have been much worse.
Of course, it would have been even better if they had called me in the first place like the cardiologist’s nurse said they would.
Well, it’s all sorted now.

In Outlook, if you right-click on the mail and scroll down to the pull-down labeled Junk, you have the option to Block Sender. I don’t know what other platforms have a similar option, but I use it frequently.

Toby has gone back to his Mama. I deviled 8 eggs (that’s 16 halves, for the math-impaired) and we’ll have some of the eggs with salad for supper. I did 2 loads of laundry today, so not totally lazy.

We’re going to Oxford tomorrow to get all the canvas off the boat so we can inventory it, and maybe patch some of it up. We may have to wait till next year for a new bimini - taxes are going to make us cash-tight this year. Dammit.

Oh, and I’m a GreatAunt again - my niece squeezed out a 8#8oz boy today - Colby Maverick Lastname. Apparently his dad picked the middle name. I guess he liked Top Gun? Anyway, mom and babby are doing fine, and she should go home on Sat. She can take off work till May - nice for her for sure.

Guess that’s all I’ve got. For now.

I am proud to report that there are now clean sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, etc. on the bed. (Wrangling the duvet cover onto the comforter is no joke. For starters, it follows the “USB” rule: put it on - nope, wrong way - turn it around - NO THAT’S THE WRONG WAY - turn it around again - okay, sheesh, that seems correct now. Then shake something that weighs as much as I do into place.)

I have also poked at the dishes while frowning and grumbling. Two pots are filled with soapy water to soak. The remainder is TBD.

Late Lunch shall be frozen boxed lasagna (no judging!) and possibly - likely - a slice of { sigh } frozen/boxed garlic toast.

… erm, baked up, of course. I’m not gnawing on them still frozen.

HA! I used to work with a “Colby.” His nickname was “Cheese.”

shoe - if I may suggest - once you figure out which way is up on your duvet, go to the bottom and make a mark with a sharpie or some other indelible marker. That way, you’ll always know where that edge goes.

Salads were good, but not particularly satisfying. Trying not to eat the wrong stuff ain’t no fun! :stuck_out_tongue: We’ll have breakfast out tomorrow on our way - I’ll allow myself to indulge a bit. But I still want chocolate cake, dammit!!!

My mom (70 yrs old) had one of these about a year ago. She was feeling fine, but the docs found she had 90+% blockage on the arteries feeding her heart. My folks go on long walks on the regular, climbing mountains and kayaking and stuff. The docs had her on the treadmill for about 2 minutes and then basically said, no, you can’t go home, you need some treatment. NOW! So, she went in on a monday for the stress test and came home on wednesday feeling a hell of a lot better.

Long way of saying have the darn test. Sometimes the docs know what they’re talking about. We don’t want to lose you.

Happy birthday, doggio!

Now, off to think about something for dinner. I wish the good pizza place delivered, but alas, they do not.

Can you send your parents out on a trek to retrieve pizza? Gotta be easier than mountain climbing.

(I keed, I keed. Sorry, will see myself out.)

Evening all. Nappage overtook me this afternoon (first time this week) so 45 minutes of unconsciousness seems to have re-invigorated me. Went out and mailed a bill I got today for the pre-dinner activity. New shredder is unpacked and installed and old one went into the garbage, so there is balance in The Force. Got up to 65F today and is supposed to get near 70F tomorrow. I could learn to like winters like this…

{{nellie}}. Hang in there. Swampy and I can probably give you lessons on sloth if you’d like…

Ok, onward into the night. Readin’ and Internettin’ are planned, might even watch a little TV. Take care all.

Happy birthday doggio!

sari, like you, thieves totally tick me off. Glad they got nothing.

Hope you’re not sore from the fall flyboy.

baker, if the emails are in the junk folder, don’t worry about them, they’re where they belong.

Congrats on little Colby Moooooom. Your grands will always have someone near their own ages to play with at family gatherings.

Irked, got the box of GS cookies that I ordered (Trefoils, which were ScotTeas when I was a girl scout). SIL is coming down Saturday afternoon for tea and they will go well with Earl Grey and lemon curd.

We went to the dog park this afternoon. Nelson got to play with a sweet dachshund named Pupu, a poodly type named Bushka and a lab-pit mix puppy named Harley. Harley got a bit too rambunctious for the crowd (they were all smaller and older than him), so his human took him over to the big dog side. On the way out, we stopped for fence kisses with one of the regular’s pit-hound mix and a short chat. We’re going to have a playdate at a dog park down the road that has a mixed enclosure with his two boys (one is an aging tripod who’s pretty chill) and Nelson in a couple of weeks, weather permitting.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Pre-made a dipping sauce for tomorrow’s lunch at work (imma fry me some nuggets) it’s sweet-chili sauce, doctored up with minced garlic and { gasp } cilantro sauce from a squeeze-tube.

I’m so looking forward to tomorrow.

Plus, InCrushPoo is scheduled, so guess who’s gonna paste on those butterfly lashes, just for fun?
Plus I have new big-ass hoop earrings. Heh. Just for fun.

… oh, also, someone with whom I haz a problem (I haven’t gone into it here, but he’s only just shown up, thinks he knows everything and now keeps talking smack about “those high school kids” dude show your co-workers some f’ing respect) is also scheduled, and I swear, if he knocks my crew again, imma hafta … say … things.

They started calling me “den mother” a while back, and though I roll my eyes and (mock) protest … yeah, “those high school kids” are MY KIDS now. My crew. My peeps.

So tomorrow will be interesting.

… and we got NO PICTURES AT ALL. { pout }

Man, I haven’t had Thin Mints in a hot minute.

Howdy Y’all! It was a nice early Spring day here. We even had dirty martinis on the back porch this afternoon. One of the benefits of bein’ retired drains on society is day drinkin’. Not that we do that every day, but 'tis nice to know we can. Roto Rooter did not call or show up. They shall have a conversation with a very unhappy bear tomorrow.

wordy happy doperversary! Sounds like a long, awful day with the chemo. Hope it goes better here on out.

taters glad the driver is OK. Hope the fixin’/replacin’ of the vehicle is not too much of a headache.

shoe pace yourself. Throw in a little sloth between chores. Trust me, I am an expert at sloth.

Also means that now YOU are a peep of theirs. Always nice to be a peep. Especially of a kid.

shoe, I rarely take photos at the dog park. Something about monitoring a sometimes-little a-hole to make sure that he doesn’t start something that I have to apologize for…well… :stuck_out_tongue:

shoe Right on. Lead your pack!

I also want pics of doggie adventures at the park. Apparently the local SPCA isn’t taking any new volunteers for dog walkies due to the plague. They’ll get in touch when things change. I’m not sure if I could handle dog walking yet anyway.

swampy I must admit to the occasional day drinkin’, but only on days when I don’t have to use power tools. Which is pretty much every day I go to work, so a chronic lack of day drinkin’ on my part.

Has anyone been to Belize? What about Costa Rica? Thoughts? Impressions?

Someone stole my catalytic converter while I was in the staff retreat.

Holy crap, flyboy that’s terrible. I’ve heard of that happening, but never knew anyone it actually happened to. Will the company make it up? I’m guessing no.

As I was about to leave, our accountant said he’d talked to the president and the company will cover my deductible.

The hotel manager said he has video, and he’ll turn it over to the police if and when he sees anything on it. The detective says Tukwila is having a rash of catalytic converter thefts, particularly Priuses. He said he saw a video where the thieves jacked up the car, took the converter, and were gone in two minutes.

there’s a reason salad bars are all you can eat usually

that’s why I have to have meat and cheese in my salad but amounts can vary as long as it is there otherwise my body thinks I didn’t eat (my MD at the time suggested that …

or if you don’t eat meat try hard-boiled eggs tho I pulled a good one on one of my eats like a rabbit relatives years ago
you’ve all heard me and flyboy talk about the infamous crazy ottos… well they do have salads but my relative didn’t know that a chefs salad is about a half-pound of cheese another almost a whole pound of ham turkey and chicken then eggs and lettuce .. these things are so huge that the dressing comes in a to-go coffee cup(or two)
"
She handed me mine and asked "what the hell is in there " opened it up and just shook her head and said "why didn’t they just throw a steak on top? " referencing an old joke funny thing she started to order them but had them half it …

actually, some fast-food places or any places that hire a lot of teenagers will hire an older female usually as a manager just for the "mom/aunt " effect bonus point if the hiree knows a lot of the teenagers personally

one of my brother’s friends at an McD’s back east was happy that they fired an odious manager after months of abuse … however he wasn’t impressed when he found out they hired his mom who was the aunt to 3 of the other workers …
