Stayed up until after 12am US Central time to make this official.

So, it was mentioned in the last MMP that a listing of all the “Mumper names” that have been assigned would be nice. So…I went back a couple weeks and looked to make sure I wasn’t missing anyone (and apologies to any I did miss, add your name) and came up with the below. Categories were designed by me and anyone is free to disagree with me—you’ll be wrong, but feel free anyway.

THE OLD GUARD: Folks who predate me and some who might have been around at the creation of the MMP and still post regularly:

Swampbear : Swampy, with significant other Old You Know Who ( OKWY )

Fairy Chat Mom: FCM or on occasion, Mooooomm , with husband (non-poster) FCD and grandbaby Roxy

Dogbutler: Doggio

Carnivorous Plant: Flytrap

Seanette: Nettie, but we’re looking for an alternative— Paloma has been suggested.

Sunny_Daze: Sunny

GotPasswords: Gotti

Taters: Taters, because it’s the perfect Mumper name as it is and as I understand it, he is one of the founders of the MMP.

Ok, comments, additions/subtractions, and critiques will be cheerfully considered and ignored. Hopefully Sunday night I can put up any revised list so those interested can print it out and have a ready reference. (Lord knows, I don’t know how I keep all y’all straight…)

I’ve been known to refer to @swampbear as “the Ursine One”, or variants. @The_Stainless_Steel_Rat is “Rodent” to me. :slight_smile:

I was gonna do the Four Seasons Total Get Off My Lawn Birthday MMP, but since certain confused senior Mumpers(Hi, Moooommm!) want a nickname tracker, I’ll graciously concede.
Also, Taters is a she.

I like Wizard, because then our party has a Herald and a Wizard. a bard(MG), and we just need a cleric and a couple of fighters.(FCD can be the NPC blacksmith)

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave and sort.

Again, a squillion thanks, MetalMouse! I’m the type that needs to have things alphabetized so I can find 'em easier. Thought I’d share the abridged alphabetized version of your excellent list in case anyone else finds it useful. Oh, and I added shoe and, though she hasn’t been around in quite awhile, Surrender_Dorothy.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of and sorta N.O.S. for the day. Or not. TWPTB are all willy-nilly on this. Not much doin’ on the home front today. Nettie has reminded me that we have some stuff that needs to be shredded so I suppose that could get done. Sup shall be poke tenderloin (slow cooked), succotash, baked sweet N.O.T., and rolls. Also, I have Vestry meetin’ this evenin’ at six. Thus is today in swampland.

MetalMouse thanks for gettin’ this goin’ since a buncha folks have been wantin’ some kind of list of Mumper names. I shall throw in kaiwik who drops by from time to time. She is known as kai or wiki. Caffeine has not kicked all the way in yet or I could probably think of others.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Good morning MMPers! I am on MetalMouse’s list as known but not daily posters. To explain, I read here every day and am very interested in the goings on. However, I easily slide into an introverted lurk mode thinking that I really don’t have much to say that would interest anyone. I have been a member of the SDMB for coming up on 22 years but I may have the lowest post count among my fellow '99ers.

MetalMouse - FYI, Taters is a she. I know - I’ve actually met her!

Oddly enough, waaaaaaay back in the original MMP days, when RueDeDay was still starting it every Moanday, my nick, at least with him, was Snickers - I think because I commented about that my liking of that particular candy bar. But he’s long gone, as is that name. Plus, waaaaaaaay back then, nicknames weren’t the same thing they are now.

And then there’s the late, great rosie, often cited for her sig - I believe her username was NaomiRose. And, of course our more recently departed Ruble/Kopek, beloved spouse of MissOwl.

And there was NooneSpecial who became Nooner resulting in Lunch and N.O.L. as needed - he’s still active on FB, but he left here quite a while back.

doggio - you brat :stuck_out_tongue: - I suggested this thread topic for the newcomers to learn our history. So there! Just like they probably don’t know that you got your nick because VunderBob became BBBobbio (for BlackBeltBob as I recall) and that led to your moniker. He’s another who left us here but is active on FB.

I’m sure I’ll remember more eventually.

Meanwhile, since I know you’re all wondering about the adventures of FCD and his folks, it’s looking like tomorrow he’ll be driving them to Indiana to visit MIL’s surviving sisters for a few days, then they’ll come here till the 24th, at which point, we’ll take them back to FL for their shots on the 26th. And once we see they’re OK after that dose, we’ll come back home. Not as good as them agreeing to move here, but at least they’ve agreed to a short exit from the non-masking COVID state.

Mornin’ everyone.

Unclear on plans for the day. No new orders, so why make the drive to the shop? Maybe to check on the plumbing that’s been acting up…or maybe stay home and make some calls to some more stores to see if they will carry my stuff. This whole changing business plans thing is difficult.

Wow, thanks for the list, Metal Mouse! I am most definitely a she. I can’t claim to be a founder of the MMP but have been posting here for more than 20 years. Sheesh! Time flies. I have met FCM, Swampy, Bumbazine, and several other former Mumpers. They were all very gracious and kind people when I met them and still are!

I found this place when I first started posting here and everyone was so nice that I just stuck around. It just felt like going to a good friend’s house and was such a respite from the Pit and other places on the board. I even accidentally called FCM Fairly Chatty Mom and she laughed it off.

Wow, that’s a lot of driving for FCD, but I am glad the folks will have some supervision for a bit and be in a healthier environment.

Anyrose, I thought it was?

Cold white fluff is still accumulating. I walked down to the shop 'cos I was out of milk and it’s definitely hot chocolate weather- not driving anywhere now, it’s got colder and much slippier than yesterday.

Idiots incapable of wearing masks in shops are also apparently accumulating. I’m becoming a right grumpy old sod lately, but I really don’t understand why so many people are having trouble with the idea of keeping distance and wearing a mask. It’s a bit scary thinking many of them are allowed to drive, if they can’t get that level of uncomplicated instruction…

Anyway- back to the other, slightly smaller, laptop I’m supposed to be working on. Not got a lot to do right now…

OK, I’ve finished my morning read and then some. Off to prepare the guest room for our guests. The closet in there is overdue for being organized - I shall tend to that forthwith.

Taters, apologies, for some reason I identify “Taters” with male, my bad, I’ll figure it out in another year or so…

shoe, I had your name written down, honest, and somehow in the typing it disappeared. Maximum mea culpa and I’ve added it to the master list.

FCM, I probably need to add a category for those ‘gone but not forgotten’ for the MIA and Dearly Departed from us. I’ll try to keep up with any you and others think of (i.e., Spiderman or Spidey). And best wishes to FCD and the in-laws; that’s a lot of driving for him and some stress for them, hope all goes well.

Nettie, call us what you will, we’ll answer, but I just wanted to get a record of the usual names for the usual suspects…and BTW, what do you think of Paloma for a new Mumper name?

nellie, thanks for the reorganizing. I’ll probably keep it in groups cause that’s how I roll, but yours is probably easier to follow.

OK, I am up and more or less awake, need to map out the weekly duties and then make myself presentable and get the Moanday Morning sammich at Jersey Mike’s. No rain and going to 54F later today, so not bad for February.

Afternoon, mumpers! It’s cold out there and it’s been snowing on and off all day but no great accumulation. The weather app says “It’s a shitty day. Need I fucking say more?” and promises me 0C/32F all day, mostly cloudy with light rain. Well, light it might have been, but my rain was frozen!

Thanks for list of mumper names, metal mouse, another missing one is Mr Bus Guy who disappeared for a long time then came back as…err…something to do with cats?

Mooom good luck with the in-laws, at least you get to keep an eye on them for a short while. Perhaps they’ll have a sudden revelation that living where there’s help is going to be a good thing.

2bob brown sauce in our house is Daddies, never HP. I’m not sure why, we always had HP at home when I was a kid, but I have always bought Daddies instead. And it lives on top of the fridge. Only mustard, horseradish and mayo lives in the fridge.

Oh well…back to irk then…

My players are going to need a Wizard soon, or at least someone who can make intelligence saves. Aboleths are cruel mistresses.

I’ve populated the next level and stocked it with loot. I also have the hobgoblins figured out.

Mrs. Magill is off getting her physical this morning, so I can run the Roomba upstairs. Normally, she’s working on the first floor, and the little beastie makes too much noise for her to take her calls. Once her office is open again, we’ll have mostly clean floors… or at least not completely filled with rabbit hair.

I think I’ll try to talk her into Pasta e fagioli for dinner tonight. Should be an easy sell.

I was starting the guest room when FCD messaged me - they’re leaving at 0430 tomorrow for the Indianapolis area. I needed to move some money into his debit account for the trip. We’re avoiding the credit card after past potential issues of the card being compromised while on travel.

OK, back to work now.

For me, this is a regular February Monday off. 30 years ago we got both Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays off school. Over the intervening years they’ve rearranged the holiday schedule, but we still get two. So I get both this Monday and next off work. Enjoying the sun and warmth because by Friday we ought to be getting more rain and coldness (relatively speaking).

Note to self: Need more Daddies sauce. I also need to hit the local Mexican market and see if I can find some new hot sauces for pulykamell. Every so often I send him new sauces from Guadalahara and he sends me giardiniera from Chicago. The stuff I can’t get out here in LaLa Land.

No worries! Good to know that I still exist. :wink:

Woke up at normal “alarm time” then went back to sleep for two anna half more glorious hours.
Nikki is purring next to me now, while Monkey is sitting guard at the window nearby. Snow is STILL drifting down.

There’s a mini squadron of chickadees, cardinals, juncos, plus a hairy woodpecker, all flitting around the suet feeder and the snow underneath it. (I guess they’re messy eaters and fling tasty bits of fatty goodness down to their compadres.)

Breakfast is leftover Chinese food, and slices of cake. Adulting has its occasional perks.
