Sleepy Hollow

He continued to age in the box. He mentioned eating roots during his imprisonment because he could still move a bit, but couldn’t escape the box due to the hex.

Look at the witches we’ve met. The priest was pushing 300 and looked like a 60-70 year old man. The carnival coven was at least that old and some of them looked like they were under 40.

So, was Jeremy the Second Horseman from birth?

no - much like Abraham - he got a field promotion.

In fussing about this, you guys miss the most obvious.
A wooden trap door, buried for 230 years, still exists.
Mrs. Plant (v.3.0) believes it will not be renewed.
Hell of a state to leave Our Heroes in. :frowning:

Its already been renewed for season 2 - Fall of 2014.

Cool.

Since I clearly remember Conner’s hatred of his father, Angel, I’m glad we missed Jeremy’s angsty teen stage.

No, you aren’t. However, she* does* have a lot to explain.

Such a great season finale. I agree with everyone else that it was silly in the last episode when Abbie and Ichabod were so surprised by the date Washington wrote in his Bible. But they made up for it in this episode because there was ZOMBIE GEORGE WASHINGTON! That was so great. I’m imagining the writers giggling with glee when they were writing that.

That bothered me a bit too, but like others said, you can’t start thinking about things too much with this show.

But you’re right about it being silly that all that machinery and stuff still works. Things like that have been in other shows and movies, and it always bugs. It would be funny to see a movie where the heroes uncover an ancient tomb, and start off the machinery that majestically opens some secret passage, but then it grinds to a halt, since the gears are caked with decades or centuries of dirt and gunk.

It is strange with how the years line up to have Jeremy be 65-year-old John Noble, instead of an actor in his teens or twenties. But I have no desire to see a young angsty “you ruined my life” Jeremy. And if Jeremy is going to be one of the main villains of the next season, then John Noble is a perfect fit, and almost certainly better than most any young actor they could have gotten.

I don’t really care about Katrina, other than giving Ichabod a love to pursue. I had thought maybe being out of purgatory she’d have more to do and be a better character, but seems less likely since she’s gone from being trapped in purgatory to being captive of the first horseman.

I don’t pay enough attention while watching the show, usually doing other things.

But as for the condition of Washington’s tomb, could the masons have been maintaining it all of these years? They seemed to generally know what was going on.

Supposedly, they really did try to revive George 4 days after he died.

I wonder if this is really true.

Oh my god, thank you for sharing that story, that’s so funny that Sleepy Hollow took a real life event and just expanded on it. The link says they didn’t actually try to revive Washington, just a doctor offered his services to the family and they turned down the offer because they thought Washington would prefer to rest in piece. I can definitely believe it, there’s plenty of stories of doctors believing they could cheat death with methods that sound insane to most people.

Go Fug Yourself did an interview with the costumer designer for the show. Some awesome pics and interesting historical trivia:

Well, a 65-year-old Jeremy seems like an obvious magic trick that isn’t needed anymore. He had to fool his own beloved golem, etc. Jeremy doesn’t need to stay 65. I’m sure they could find a 30-something actor to fill his shoes.

As for Katrina, she was always an obvious wedge between Ichabod and Abbie. Ichabod isn’t the same man he was when he died 200 years ago. He’s learned a lot. Importantly, his beautiful innocent nauseatingly politically correct wife is not at all the woman he fell in love with. She could die heroically, but I could also see Ichabod and katrina quickly growing apart as they learn more about each other and coming to be at odds over the sorts of things they’re willing to do to stop evil, etc. Sometimes true wuv isn’t always enough and it’s okay to fall out of love. He got her out of purgatory, so whatever love and loyalty debt he has to her is more than paid up.

I don’t care if Ichabod insists on the same coat and shirts, but the pants somehow remind me a bit of diapers. Has he discovered knit boxers yet? That’s got to be better than whatever he’s wearing under those pants.
