No, it’s not a bad fan fic, the two shows are actually crossing over next week.
How did anyone think this was a good idea?
This is dumber than when Booth kept seeing Stewie, at least that could be explained away as a brain tumor. But maybe Bones will have to stop being so much of a dick regarding religion now that she lives in a universe where the Book of Revelation is explicitly shown to be correct. Yeah, I’m sure that’ll happen…
Echoing everyone here. When I first heard about it, I was like, you are doing what? These worlds just don’t seem to fit. I mean I can see where the SH crew sends out to an expert to look at some bones, but it would require the Bones crew to believe in strange supernatural things. I mean, unless the mystery turns out to be non-supernatural and Bones goes “I told you so” while Ichabod is saying while this may not have been supernatural, that stuff does exist - or they try to keep that secret. It all sounds incredibly convoluted when I try to figure out how that’d work.
This article explains the premise a bit but be aware there are some plot elements in the article so if you want to go in blind don’t read.
“The Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover is like a great episode of The X-Files, where the Bones hour is the Scully, logic-based perspective and the Sleepy Hollow hour is more Fox Mulder-esque,”
Spoilered because it contains some plot elements.
On Bones, “the grisly discovery of human remains lead Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) on a hunt for clues, during which they encounter Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) and Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie), searching for answers of their own. Realizing that they are after the same evidence, they team up to solve the mystery. Then, immediately following on Sleepy Hollow, the intrigue continues as Ichabod’s old nemesis is back from the dead. Ichabod and Abbie need advanced forensic help and expertise to stop him and turn to Brennan and Booth to unlock 18th century secrets using 21st century science.”
I think this episode will be hilarious if you try to imagine that both sets of writers just do not give a shit.
I stopped watching Bones years ago, after that whole deal with her father was kind of resolved, marrying or having a kid with Booth, and that hacker guy super villain thing. Sleepy Hollow I forgot was on anymore after they took their last break, and haven’t watched since like the season finale of last season. I think something happened where Katrina was bad, then was good again. Or this may have been when they went into that other dimension because one had to stay behind. I don’t even remember or care anymore.
Since I am a big Sleepy Hollow fan I am looking forward to it. The current SH season is back to its fine season 1 form. I hope the crossover has some real shout out to the X-Files given how Mulder, Scully, Booth and Mills are all FBI agents.
I can see how it’ll work in the Sleepy Hollow universe (mostly because pretty much everything works in the Sleepy Hollow universe. Need to interview a dead, headless guy? Sure. They can do that. Need advice from an ex-President who should be about 400 miles away and is technically dead? They can do that, too. Time travel? Done that. Getting information from a forensic lab and a fellow FBI agent is comparatively trivial.)
I don’t see how it’ll work in Bones. But I like crossover episodes. They’re fun. I’m willing to watch to see what happens.
I remember a couple seasons ago when my wife and I were still watching it- there was a scene where they all had to work late to solve some crime and Hodgins said to Angela “glad I DVRed Sleepy Hollow”! So this is some kind of crazy crossover, alright.
I didn’t start watching this season of SH given the last season, and now crossing over with Bones was about to put the final nail in the coffin (though if I was a Bones fan, I’d be even more perturbed). But if it’s returning to season 1 goodness, maybe I’ll give an episode or two a try.
