Bones is Back, Baby: 4/21

Yes, our crew of bone-crunching, goo-dripping specialists is back tonight with an all new episode at long last.

You in?

I thought they came back on the 14th with “The Man in the Mud” which was very good, in my opinion. I haven’t seen the latest one, though.

Yes, last week was a new episode as well.

I think tonight’s was possibly the grossest body yet! I now have a fear of being trapped behind folding bleachers. shudder

The scene with the recreation of the brain/skull being crushed inside the turkey and splattering out was pretty funny. But the best was blending the maggots in the boss’s blender.

“Don’t worry, I’ll rinse it out!”

Said by a man who has more money than some countries. He could have offered to buy his boss a new one.

I watched it, but sports drama bores me to tears so I didn’t like it very much, even if Boreanaz did look nice shooting hoops in his suit.

Brennan’s zingers in the locker room might have been funny if I hadn’t already seen them in the previews.

I was just sitting down to eat (in front of the TV) when they showed the body. Fortunately, I have a pretty strong constitution, and it didn’t perticularly resemble a tuna sandwich, anyway.

ETA: I’ve only recently started watching. I’ve got some of the backstory down - Booth (is his name Ceeley?) is FBI, ex-military, Bones is super-intelligent person who apparently never had a normal life. I thought the bearded guy was married to the Asian artist girl? The other younger guy seems to be a Bones-in-training (no idea how to relate to others, etc.). Can anyone give me more background? - Oh, yeah - I know Bones’ father is in jail and Booth put him there.

I haven’t seen all the earlier episodes. Is Hodgins a trust fund baby or otherwise independently wealthy?

He is the last member of a family that runs a financial empire and will inherit the whole deal, worth several million dollars. They are the largest single donor to the Jeffersonian Group. He doesn’t let people know that, as he wants to be one of the “little people.”

Thanks Annie, I did not know that!

I was thinking the exact same thing. What I don’t understand is why they didn’t already have a blender for gross things because I’ve seen the maggot puree thing on CSI before so it seems to be something that at least TV forensic shows do so you think they’d be prepared. At first I was worried that he was pureeing the pinkies. I never did see what happened to mama rat and babies.

I feel a little disappointed because I fingered the killer from the beginning and his motive just wasn’t that good.

Oooooh…Rats breeding in a body–gaaaaaah! But kinda cool.

An all right episode, not fantastic. Did I really miss a new one on the 14th?

Bones-in-training (Zach) comes from a large, loving family, and recently went to Afghanistan or some such, but got sent back.

Booth has a little boy. Booth and Cameron (the beautiful black lady) used to be a “thing” (but she’s not the mother of his kid). Oh, and Booth was not just in the military, he was a sniper, so his feelings about being a “killer” come in to play from time to time. Also, Booth is religious, and Bones’ religion is science, so they argue about that a lot.

Bones also has a brother, and step-niece/nephew.

Angela and Hodgins aren’t married, because she’s still married to some random dude she met many years ago and hasn’t seen since, who won’t give her a divorce, because he’s still in love with her, which we found out AT THE WEDDING when somebody busted in and objected to the marriage. (Unless I’ve missed something recently.) Also, Angela’s dad is a rock star (played by that ZZ Top guy), which she doesn’t exactly advertise.

What’d I miss guys?

Iraq.

Bones’ father (Ryan O’Neal) is in jail for murdering a rogue FBI agent.

Angela’s job appears to be to do computer-generated recreations that border on the magical. So she’s artsy, not science-y, and thereby serves the role of Greek chorus.

(The first few episodes of this show annoyed the hell out of me. Then I let go and just went with the flow, and it’s really grown on me)

Oh, she does those horribly (and not in the good way) realistic holograms that look like something from Star Wars? I seems to get that Angela has a wild past. And present, apparently.

Somehow I don’t see Zach being the soldier type. Was he trying to grow up to be Booth? And what is Booth’s first name?

What is Bones’ first name, and does anyone use it?

Is Cameron like the administrative boss and Brennan the scientific one? In the few eps I’ve seen, she seems to be pushing Booth and Bones into a relationship. Obviously she’s not still carrying a torch for Booth.

Did the sexual description seem a little graphic for what used to be considered the “family jour” of TV? (7:00) to anyone else?

Booth’s name is Seeley and Bones name is Temperance Brennan.

Temperence?? Is there a nickname for that? (Besides Bones)

Seeley sounds like a girl’s name.

What turned me off the show initially was the use of the word “Squints”. Booth doesn’t seem to do that anymore.

Ah, I think her dad and brother both call her “Tempy” which I hate. The worst part of believing for me came at the end of last night’s episode. There’s no way that Emily Deschanel eats burgers and milkshakes.
