Slide-in Electric range?

SDMB,
after searching for a 29 inch electric range for a couple months but only being able to find the standard 30 " I was pretty much ready to give up, and then today I saw what is called a 30 in slide-in that is designed for being built into cabinetry and to rest on top of the counters. And I think this may be exactly what I am looking for. Does anyone have any any experience with these? My real concern is it going to fit. The cutout in my cabinets has the dimensions of 29" W x 22" D x 36" H. I think the standard slide-in will fit but looking to see if someone more in the know can say with greater certainty.

Thanks all for any feedback.

Make and model of the range you are looking at?

I think (until I see the model number) that you’re looking at a drop in, not a slide in. A slide in is just a regular (stand alone) stove/range.
Just keep in mind, you may have to build up the bottom, it likely can’t just be suspended on the counters.

I have installed many slide in ranges and built the kitchens to fit them in. The opening dimensions work basically the same; a 30" slide in range will generally fit in a 30" opening whether it is slide in or standing. Any appliance will have an installation spec sheet with required opening dimensions and placement of power receptacle. You can download this before purchase to confirm it will work for you or make necessary changes. Usually a 30" range will be about 29 - 29 1/2" wide to allow for space on either side of the unit. You are going to have to check spec sheets to find one that will fit, or modify the cabinet. Openings for ranges are often made a little larger and tailored to the right size with a strip of panel called ‘fillers’, which can be removed.

Slide in ranges are if anything easier to fit than a standard range because the gap between the range and counter top is covered. There are two main differences between them; the cooking surface of a slide in range has flanges that fit over the counter, and slide in ranges usually have no back control panel and require a roughly 2" deep ledge of countertop against the wall behind the range.

The feet of the range need to be adjusted so the range top fits nicely over the counter, this will probably require a couple test fits unless the range has front adjustments for the back feet. If you have no countertop material for the back ledge, you can use a piece of 3/4" Melamine panel, or really any cleanable surface

Thanks for the info. My counter does have the ledge in the back and the controls are on the front. I will take a look at the spec sheets to see what I can get. Much appreciated.
