I came home last night about 12:00 and went in the kitchen to do something. I look down at the rug in front of my sink and what do I see… a BIG GROSS SLUG!!
How the hell did that thing get on my kitchen floor? It was about 3 inches long and very slimey looking. I had to call my boyfriend into the kitchen to make him throw it outside because I couldn’t stand the thought of picking it up. Everytime I think about it I get chills!!
So how did this thing end up on my kitchen floor? It’s a mystery to me. All I can think of is it was under my kitchen sink and got out somehow!
I can see why someone from Kansas might register alarm at an unexpected slug but us denizens of the Pacific Dampwest are only able to register boredom.
I’ll have to admit I’ve never seen one in the middle of my kitchen floor, though!
As to how it got there, they are surprisingly mobile and, if not actually speedy, at least very determined. They can easily negotiate steps, stairs, walls, ceilings, etc., and can squeeze through unexpectedly small openings. They are also not very bright (duh!) so he was probably just lost.
Unless he was just the advance scout for the big invasion…?
Sleep well!
“I’ll tell him but I don’t think he’ll be very keen. He’s already got one, you see!”
You have my empathy Rachelle. I’m from Arizona so I am not squeamish about creepy/crawly/bitey critters but slugs make my flesh crawl even more than pond leeches. I never saw any until I lived in San Diego for a while and the first I saw them on the garage floor I was laying on the floor working on the car. I was ***ed up for days over that.
