Sorry if this should go to GQ.

Slug’s drawing for the column La Cucaracha has the male cockroach saying Les Went! This has to indicate that he grew up with The Cisco Kid and Pancho(Carrillo) saying “les went” or perhaps Carrillo would say it in his “Mexican Spitfire” movies from the 30’s-40’s? I guess I’m curious if Carrillo first used that pidgin Spanish phrase in the Cisco Kid series(1950’s) or the late 30’s-40’s movies?

Well, I for one didn’t grow up with the Cisco Kid and Pancho, so I have no idea what “les went” is supposed to mean. Mind filling in the clueless yet curious?
