Slut shaming existed long before the internet. The internet probably is better at fighting slut shaming than anything that existed before. Pre-internet, it seems pretty rare that anyone would defend the “sluts”. At least the internet now allows the “sluts” (and those of us who have no problem with women who like to be sexually active without needing an emotional commitment) to find like minded people.
