Smacking parents - an effective deterrent?

We have all heard the arguments for and against smacking children, and I have to say I am utterly against it except for in extreme cases.

However I think there is a much stronger case for smacking wayward parents.

For a start smacking an elderly man/woman will not impact on their development as they have already grown and their minds are highly inflexible. If they have not learned by age 50 or so the social graces, they never are going to learn, so why not give them a slap to avert the behaviour?

Also their brains are a bit slower, bad behaviour patterns are more ingrained, so reason and talking is hardly going to work - why not smack?

Of course I would never advocate this form of punishment for elderly people who are genuinely infirm of mind and unable to consciously regulate their behaviour, but for those in full control of their facilities smacking seems neither unethical or ineffectual.

I am firmly in favour - what do you think?

I know quite a few people that could use a good smack upside the head. The problem is, the people who most NEED said good smack will be the ones who want to administer them.

I’m with GMRyujin - those who advocate smacking are typically those that most need a smack.

:::shakes fist:::

I’ll learn you to go around smacking your elders, you young whippersmacker!

Hey if your dad started humping the furniture you’d want to smack him too.
