Small problem re: IE explorer and board

Ok, I hope this is in the right place. Also please note that I’m not a computer expert and try not to snicker too loudly at me, thanks.

I access the board while at work (don’t tell the fuzz) through a networked Gateway PC using Internet Explorer. Lately I’ve noticed that the main page, i.e. the page listing the most recent columns, threadspotting, etc. doesn’t ever change. I seem to be stuck on the one with lightning rods. I clear the temp files every time I sign off so where is this page lurking on my hard drive?

I actually use any one of a half dozen computers in my work area on any given night and page seems to be stuck on most of them. However, I noticed last night when I signed on to a different pc that I was getting the most recent front page. Kind of odd that.

It’s not a big deal but I was wondering what’s going on. Maybe I can learn something. Anyone got any ideas?

Check how often IE is set to check for newer versions of stored pages. On the “Tools” menu on the Internet Explorer menu bar, go to the “Internet Options” menu item. Under “Temporary Internet files” (the middle section of the pop-up box), click on “Settings”. At the top of the new pop-up box, it should say “Check for newer versions of stored pages:”, with four settings: “Every visit to the page”, “Every time you start Internet Explorer”, “Automatically”, and “Never”. If it’s set to “Never”, that might be your problem right there.

It’s set to “automatic”. But thanks, I didn’t know about that option.

‘Automatic’ doesn’t always seem to work for me. Try ‘Every visit to the page’ instead.

That seems to work Crusoe. Thanks!
