Picket Fences is set in Rome WI. There are actualy two Romes in Wisconsin, but niether matches the fictional Rome (the real ones are way too small and nowhere near Green Bay)
For the purposes of this discusion I define real as:
The names must be the same
The population of the fictional place must be between 50% and 200% of the population of the real place
The location must be close (75 miles?) of the real location
Geograpphy (lakes, rivers, landmarks) must basically match
Charateristics (county seat, whether it is a agriculture or college or mill town) must basically match
By smallest I mean lowest population. I guess of the place the TV series is set rather than metro population (I disallow some 100 person gated community that is just outside a major metro area)
I have seen a BBC documentary program The Village which is about life in a little village called Bentley. I think about 10 series were made. The village is little, having only one pub and one shop.
I think we did this before. anyhow I think it is Bagdad.
No, not that one! I remember it is Bagdad, Arizona. before being a TV series Bagdad Cafe was a movie. the soso series was with Whoopie Goldberg and lasted one season, I think.
As for the city stats:
The population of Bagdad, Arizona is approximately 1,858 (1990).
The approximate number of families is 660 (1990).
