Smallpox post vaccination question.

I just got vaccinated for smallpox on Wed and they did the usual 15 pricks with the needle etc. They told me about the stages that the site should go through and gave me a pamphlet with pics and whatnot. It’s been about 60 hours since I got vaccinated and when I take off th bandaid I can’t even see the site. The only thing that tells me where to put the new bandaid is the outline of the old one. It’s nor red and my arm doesn’t hurt at all.

The literature all says it should start blistering on day three or four but should I be concerned that I can’t even see th site right now? I think if it doesn’t take I need to get it again.

Anyone else have this vaccine?

The literature says that it should start blistering on day three or four but I’m wondering if it should be as non-

When did smallpox vaccination begin again? Last I heard, smallpox had been eradicated.

Military. Afghanistan.

I am assuming you aren’t old enough to have been vaccinated previously, back when smallpox was out in the “wild”. You should have a significant reaction, and it’s possible that it didn’t “take”, or that for some reason the virus used in the vaccination was deceased (yes, smallpox vaccinations use a live virus). If either of those two conditions apply you are not protected. Is there some medical person you can contact about this?

I was vaccinated as a baby over 40 years ago. The circular scar on my arm is still visible. That’s a pretty hefty mark the vaccination leaves and if you aren’t getting anything then I have to wonder if your jab worked or not.

Since we moved a lot, I had smallpox boosters into the mid-seventies. A scab was supposed to form at the site.
