okay what just happened? How did Christopher Reeve get the “key”? Did I
miss something? Anyone have any insight?

My best guess is that the whole light show in the cave was a wormhole or teleportation system (it looked like a tunnel or something was going through the wall), sucked in the key and Swan’s “receivers” picked it up.
Of course, the ending does mean Christopher Reeve will have to show up for more episodes, which I think is very cool.
yes, it is to the show’s credit that they use Reeve. I think you may be right
concerning the teleporting, but they really left it open. Almost anything could
of happened. I love the way they ended a few weeks ago with Lex swallowing
a gun very dramatic ending, until you relaise 2 seconds later he gets a phone
call and puts the gun down!! It is this comic book like mentality I love about
Smallville.
