So this episode introduced red kryptonite, which made our boy Clark all evil and stuff. I had completely forgot about all the various types of kryptonite, and the different effects they had. I wonder how long tho they can blame everything on the metor rocks? That’s getting kind of old. Still, it was refreshing to see evil Clark. Reminds me of an earlier episode where Lana became a “bad girl.” Ohhh… but Clark is going to have to do some serious groveling to get things back the way they were with him and Lana. Especially after he confessed his feelings and then kissed that other girl.
Speaking of which, the whole story with the girl and her father could have been skipped. I didn’t find it or her all that very interesting. I dont even remember her name. Anyways it only added to the plot slightly, and besides Lana is much better looking
Lex… what can I say, Lex is the man. Too bad he turns evil because right now, hes really a cool guy. I think he handeled the thing with his father very well. At first glance, it appears as if he is being mean and cruel to his father. Making him move out the abrupt way he does. In actuality he is giving him tough love. Getting him to stop feeling sorry for himself and be the confident, albeit heartless, man that he was before. All in all I give this episode a 7 out of 10.

Anyway, they needed two new, expendable characters for two reasons.
Everybody that isn’t a friend of a superhero, who learns the superhero’s identity, dies. And since none of the Kents were going to kill him, and since Lex already had his turn…
They needed some chick for Clark to make out with to make Lana jealous. And since Chloe already had her turn…
All in all, I’ll second the 7/10 on the Smallville scale. Which is, of course, about a 4 compared to Buffy. (Hey, I love both shows, but there’s at least one Smallville writer that needs to be introduced to the unemployment line.)
Munch - Pete found Clark’s spaceship that went missing during the tornado. Of course, he told his best friend about it first thing. Clark wants him to take the spaceship to his (Clark’s) barn for safekeeping, but Pete insists that it’s his, he found it, and he wants to put it in his shed. And he wants to tell Chloe and become famous. Clark and Jonathon sneak into Pete’s shed to maybe take back the spaceship, but it’s gone - someone else (the scientist studying the meteorite fragments) has taken it. Pete sees Clark and his dad and confronts Clark the next day. Clark tells Pete about him and the spaceship. He’s furious with Clark because he feels their whole friendship has been based on a lie, but in the end comes around. They get the spaceship back from the scientist, who dies from kryptonite poisoning and all is well. There is a subplot about Lex’s father being approached by the scientist about the spaceship, which is why he’s decided to stay in Smallville.

I think I must be the only person who thinks that Alyson Mack is the most beautiful woman on the cast. Kirsten looks presently airbrushed. Alyson is a true hottie.
“I didn’t know Cloi had a birthmark on her cheek.” Made me want x-ray vision as my super power.
That and Clark’s display in the Luthor Mansion were the only good parts. 3 out of 10
So I’d already turned my loyalties over to Smallville as SolGrundy’s Favorite Show (Buffy let me down way too many times last year), but then they had that awful Pete-finds-out episode. Dumb story, bad dialogue all around, really really clumsy acting, awful pacing, just bad bad bad. I was afraid that I’d be left show-less.
This episode (“Red”) was better, somehow. It surprised me, since from the trailers I was expecting the worst – they’ve already done the meteor-rocks-make-you-lose-your-inhibitions story, and I knew that I was much much less excited about seeing Clark explore his dark side than I was to see Lana. Uh, explore her dark side, I mean. Mmmmm… swimming pool…
Sorry, I was miles away there. Anyway, so this one turned out okay and I guess they’re back on the goofy-but-heartwarming-young-adult-oriented-action-drama-fantasy track.
Put me down in the “Chloe is hotter than Lana” category. Damn, that girl… I mean, sure, Lana’s gorgeous- but she’s also boring! Chloe’s a really hot nerd- I mean, who could ask for anything more?
Okay, I could ask for her to be in my bed.
And I still refer to the show as the Lex Luthor show. He’s far and away the most interesting character on the show, and one of the best characters I’ve ever seen on TV. He’s basically a good guy, I think- he’s just burdened with the fact that he’s his father’s son. Well, I also blame Pa Kent- I mean, come on, Luke, cut the guy some slack.

In the comics, red kryptonite has “unpredictable” effects on Superman… which have included stories such as personality changes, splitting Superman and Clark into two people, making him unable to control his powers, etc etc.
Looks like SMALLVILLE is opting for red kryptonite causing emotional changes.
