You’re posting in the wrong thread.
The funny thing is, he would be less despicable if he were a troll and didn’t believe what he posts.
Well, his posts in the Brittany Maynard thread tell me that either he
- has never suffered …or
- never seen anyone else suffer …or
- really likes it when others suffer
I have suffered and I have seen people I love suffer.
That doesn’t mean I want people to suffer.
But I would prefer to suffer than to die or to be dead. And I would prefer to have been with those people I knew who suffered rather than to have them leave me before their time.
Let me get this straight:
So, basically, the reason the Nazis were able to succeed is because people disobeyed the laws, and that’s how genocide occurs. And yet:
I don’t know about you, but I could not live with myself, having done such a thing. You know the kind of people who do such things willingly, and are able to sleep at night, because at least they’ve saved their own stinking, worthless hides?
Sociopaths. And that’s exactly what you are. You are sick, you deserve the scorn you are receiving. Anyone who would choose such a disgusting, pathetic excuse for “life” is definitely a coward, and has no business using said term against another person, simply because they choose otherwise.
No, you see, he has toothaches. They’re BAD!!!
(And I believe someone can be both a troll and sincere at the same time)
At some point you realize that what you want is less important that what the other person wants. They don’t live to satisfy your needs.
That’s selfish. Look at how you phrase the statement. It isn’t about them - the ones suffering; it’s about you.
Nope, don’t believe you. You seem to lack pity and empathy. You are callous.
Maybe I’m missing on the conversation, but it seems to me that if that is true, the overwhelming majority of people are sociopaths, because most wouldn’t put their life on the line to save others.
Most people would risk their lives for someone, don’t you think? Certainly most parents believe they would go into danger for the sake of their children. Not Smapti. He would burn down the world to briefly spare himself.
I think the main difference here is most people would feel regret, remorse, guilt and a lifetime of despair. Smapti, OTOH, just seems to shrug his shoulders at the whole thing and goes about his pathetic life.
But amazingly, her life wasn’t about this fucktard troll’s, yet here he is, durping up the board while saying shit just to piss everyone off is against the rules. Sometimes there’s no justice in the world and no depth this troll won’t sink to. Just more fodder for the ignore list.
I don’t believe that. I believe most people who didn’t take any risks to save other or even helped (maybe without enthousiasm) in the demise of others certainly didn’t went through a “lifetime of despair”. Their thoughts are more likely to be someting like “It’s too bad, but what else could we do?” .
People don’t typically put their life (or even their inconvenience) on the line to save strangers. And they rationalize even their most inexcusable choices.
I don’t really want to get in the middle of this gang fuck, but what in the fuck does the following even mean?
What the fuck? Who says something like that? Is there even a context possible for that to make sense?
The post I quoted was saying that choosing to die was wrong because the poster doesn’t want to lose having the person in their life. That their suffering is worth it because he wants them around.
I’m pointing out that at some point you may have to realize that someone suffering just to make you happy isn’t fair. I’m not sure how you read it that it seems like such an extreme sentiment.
Does that help clarify?
Again, here’s the quote: (emphasis mine)
raises hand
Oh, you mean it’s somebody else who decided to kill themselves. And not wanting them to suicide is selfish.
That’s actually how society feels about killing yourself. It’s a crime to even try to kill yourself, no matter how much agony and how long the suffering will be.
But back to that statement.
“At some point you realize that what you want is less important that what the other person wants. They don’t live to satisfy your needs.” Out of context it sounds fucked up.
Imagine the opposite.
“At some point they realize that what they want is less important that what you want. You don’t live to satisfy their needs.”
Regardless of what society feels, I think few people actually would rather people suffer and stick around than die. Even if you don’t believe in suicide, most people will hope for an end to someone’s suffering rather than having them suffer longer just to make you happy.
It wasn’t out of context. It was a direct reply to the quote above it. It isn’t fucked up. There are few situations where I think other people should sacrifice their happiness simply for mine. The reverse is irrelevant. I can make decisions about my own actions. I don’t impose expectations on others actions.
Which is why it’s bullshit. Both from society and the trolls that spout it.
