There are also a lot of “Know-it-alls” on this site as well. Which is worse than any kind of ass. 
There’s a fine line between being a critical thinker–having a willingness to seek out the facts, and being a know-it-all. I think some people with a great deal of intellectual curiousity get labeled as know-it-alls unfairly. That’s not to say that some of them aren’t pretty damn smug about it!
The main difference is the smugness. I know this as a fact – don’t question it.
