Every little boy had to do it. I would go onto my driveway with a hammmer and Smash Matchbox cars. Either that or I had some sick infactuation with smashing things. But then again who didn’t, right? Please gusy tell me there is some one out there who does the same…
Sorry, I never smashed Matchbox cars, or any other type of cars. On the other hand, I would rip the heads off old action figures and put ladyfingers in their necks and watch them blow up. To each his own.
Jman
I used to chuck airfix models too.
My favourite was attaching loads of those ‘throwdowns’ (mini explosives) to them and then droppping them to see if they would explode. They didn;t usually but sometimes…
oh boy, someone pass the airfix.
Sorry, always liked my Matchbox cars too much to smash them. Talking about the original British series here. Sometime in the '60’s the factory burned down and when they went back into production, they were more like Hot Wheels and much less interesting.
Now, blowing up plastic model cars with firecrackers, be happy to talk about that…
Smash them? Yes. With a hammer? No way, man!
My friend Michael and I would have demolition derbies with our Matchbox cars, once they started to show a bit of wear. We’d sit about six feet apart and whip them at each other. Cracked 'em up nicely, and a lot of fun.
I lived on the third floor facing the El- we would set up our orange track out the window and do Evel Kneivel recreations into the passing train car. if you managed to hit a train you were highly regarded. The time I got a car **into]/b] the window of the train, I was revered for many weeks and showered with cars in homage!!
Looking back as a Hotwheels collector, I now realize I tossed the equivalent of a new Acura worth of diecast out that window!!!
**I can just picture the poor befuddled commuter staring at the car that just landed in his cup of coffee.
hehehehe!
