Adding a new smiley
We will be adding a new smiley at the SDMB. The smiley will be chosen by popular vote, using the approval method of voting (you can vote for more than one candidate, the candidate with the most votes will win - see at this page a description of approval voting.) The polling process
We have 9 candidates and the “No new smilies” choice. The voting is set up to last 14 days.
If the winner is a category with two or more smilies (e.g. wry has two submissions), there will be one final poll to choose the best smiley for that category, with an expiration date of five days.
If the result is a tie, the winner will be decided by Arnold Winkelried flipping a swiss coin (to have a double guarantee of swiss neutrality) to determine the winner. Candidates List of candidates.

(If you follow the links in this thread, you will be able to read all about the first smiley election.)
How many times have you read a reply and thought o yoourself, “What? No way!” but couldn’t quite come up with a short answer that would carry enough weight?
Plus, if you don’t trust the poster, but don’t think a Pitting is needed.
dubious! Everything said above, plus it has that great Spock eyebrow thing going on.
It also has the huge advantage compared to most of those that it’s the same size as the standard smileys. It won’t make the lines break oddly like :smack:, :wally, and do.
I’d like to urge everyone to look closely at :gobsmacked: I think it would be very useful.
Arnold, do we get to vote on the name, though? I think I’d like it even better if its vB code wasn’t half-Gaelic slang. Not that there’s anything basically wrong with Gaelic, but it should be something more widely used in the whole English-speaking world.
 perhaps? :dumbstruck:? :holy crap!:
Admittedly, I’m not coming up with much better. But someone should.
I’m glad it’s approval voting. I’ll probably vote for at least 4 of these.

Now, I’m still just a newbie around here (I guess) but is this what you want in a smilie? Hell, we know you’re doubtful, actually that’s not even strong enough. WE DON’T BELIEVE YOU UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE IT!
So, why waste a smiley on something so weak as “Well I kinda doubt it”,…bullshit
Let 'em know what you mean! God-damned evil hamsters…I just spent an hour writing, proofing, citing my sources and links only to have those damned evil HAMSTERS eat my inspiring piece of work.
MAYBE then, someone will get the message. or perhaps y’all would prefer a smiley walking both sides of the fence.
and BTW…what’s this crap about only, what is it? 96 members have voted? How many members are there? Come on people, it’s folks like you that get people like _____ voted into office!
