how do you make all the various smilie faces? and what is the red envelope and the grey envelopes beside the topics?

Actually, these questions belong in the About This Message Board forum.
If the envelope is red, it means a message has been posted to that particular thread recently. If it’s gray, that means, well, a message hasn’t been posted there recently.
