My former brand [Caballero plain] suddenly changed from 1.2 to 0.8.
They say is because of the new EU rules [yeah, one more “lovely” change :mad: ]
Fact is: I need to buy more cigarettes in order to get my daily nicotine dose.
I’m sure the tobacco industry is very sorry for me…
Around home, which is in Cook Co. Illinois they can be as bad as $5.60 at the gas station, but I work in Dupage, where you can still sometimes find $3.50-$4.50.
I’ve noticed however that I have become a total BOGO smoker. Camels, those new little tiny menthol Marlboro 73’s (which I like), Salems in a rainbow of color boxes, Weird off brands, anything that’s buy one get one free I’m smoking. I’m in it for the nicotine.
nitroglycerine, I probably will try the Zig-Zag. I’m sure I’ll like it if it comes with decent Zig-Zag papers. I’m about done with these Marlboros.
And I vividly remember making a pact with my guy that we’d both quit when cigs went to a buck a pack. This must have been around '81.
gum, I’d guess that the Drum you get there still comes from Utrecht? The Drum we get in the US now comes from North Carolina or someplace, and it isn’t as finely cut as it used to be. Also, it tends to have stems and chunks and it’s rather dry. And the papers? Just bad.
Uberhaubt <heh>, we can buy cigarettes in most of the places you mentioned except bookstores. Bars and restaurants, usually not. Seems as if the best prices around here are at gas stations/convenience stores, but sometimes supermarkets have good prices as well.
Smokes in NYC are outrageous - major brands run about $7 a pack. I’ve been ordering from NYS indian reservations for a couple years now. www.native1.com seems to be the cheapest in the area, but they have a minimum order of 5 cartons.

It costs Euro 4.60 [50 grams] and has 1,1 nicotine in it. [oh, yum. That’s better than those weak ciggies]
