I think the Smokey Eye Look can be very attractive. Better than the Lazy Eye anyway.
It’s probably also much easier to apply in small bits; I know the one time I put on falsies (for Halloween), it took what seemed like forever to be able to get the damned things in the right place.
I can and have done smokey eyes, but I tend to do the multi-color gradient thing more frequently. It’s easier and looks better.
Kewl:) I’m gonna try them out!
i’m a fan of these color quads by maybelline. they’re basically smoky eyes for dummies, they tell makeup morons like me where to put each color to achieve the smoky look, and you can adjust it as needed- use all 4 colors for a dramatic look, or just one or two for a daytime look.
I agree that it is a great night time look. Not a 9 to 5 look.
Around where I live, the OP’s picture is just average every day make up. Partly it’s the culture, I’m guessing. It’s just not acceptable to go out without make up, like you’re lazy, mannish, or poorly raised.
The amount of makeup and colors used depend on coloring. The example shown would be fine on our latina population and too dark for most anglos. But 'round here you wear make up.
I had them done in a salon the first two times, but do them on my own now. I love how they look.
I’ve seen a couple youtube tutorials on them and I agree they look MUCH better and much more natural than the strips!
I’ve had lash extensions done and loved how they looked but I kept feeling like things were getting stuck in my eyes afterward. It’s a shame because they were awesome.
How long did it take you guys to get the hang of applying your own false lashes? Because I’m not terrifically steady in the hands, and the thought of accidentally gluing my eyes shut terrifies me–I’d rather stick with creative use of my eyelash curler and tons of mascara to avoid that fate.
I practiced using a little lash kit from Sephora.
You dip the end of the eyelash in the glue, put it on with tweezers and let it set. It would be really hard to glue your eye(s) shut. It’s one teeny tiny lash set at a time.
Smokey eye is a really effective, great eye opener, your comments are actually a little offensive and a bit silly?

I’ve thought about it and you’re right. I apologize to the raccoon community for such an insensitive remark.
I’m with Patty. I don’t dig the raccoon face. Some women can pull it off, but for the most part, it just looks like someone has drawn dark circles around their eyes, and I can’t figure out why that would be attractive. I wish I could get rid of the dark circles I was born with, and people are going out of their way to look sleep-deprived and dead inside? I know not everyone sports little to none of the World’s Most Boring Make Up like I do, and I can get behind many more heavily made up looks, but not that one.
Not for me, and I don’t always like it on other women, but often I’ve seen it look great. It works better IMO if you have naturally darker coloring.
I’m glad you took time to think about it. Well done!
I think it’s very pretty. That’s usually the look I go for when putting on make-up.
Can even look good on some guys.
