I must now report that I had my first cigarette in two weeks tonight.
Fortunately, it honestly did taste like complete shiat, making me wonder what I ever saw in it.
That is all.

At the risk of prying, why now? If you’ve made it two weeks, what set you off? I’m curious because I’ve only managed to go six hours, and with the prices up over $5 a pack here in Jersey, I’m ready to quit not for health reasons, but for financial ones.
In New York, they’re up to $7.50 a pack.
They’re 3.09 for the name brands in Oklahoma.

Quite honestly? A bunch of beer and a bar setting I bummed a smoke off of a friend, and fortunately didn’t like it. It really honestly did taste like an ashtray. I know this because I once licked an ashtray for $5.00.
If it tasted awful, chances are you won’t smoke again. You might need to stay out of bars for a little while if that triggers cravings.
Keep it up, 2 weeks off cigarettes is a great start!
That’s how it always starts.
Go to the bar with friends that smoke, drink a couple and lo and behold, you find yourself with a nasty ass cig between your fingers sucking merrily along. Then you crave another and another…and you know the rest of the story.
Well Cynical, you can get over this, I know you can.
You did that for 5 measly bucks?
'fraid I have to agree with techie here. When you backslide for the first time it’s very easy to fool yourself into thinking that cigarette tasted so nasty you will never want to have one again. Then when you do want one again, you think “well it’s OK if I have just the one because the one I had last time didn’t make me want to start again” and before you know it you’re hooked again.

How much to lick a toilet?
Great job on the quitting. I wish I could get to that point.
