SNL 11/11/06 -- Alec Baldwin

Great episode, thank the gods. I was terrified when I found out Baldwin was hosting. If they screwed that one up, there really would have been no turning back. Downaward spirals for everyone! But thankfully, I actually found myself laughing out loud on several occasions (yes, you can quote me on that), when only last week I was slackjawed with angry incredulity. I even liked the out of breath jogger 'cause 1992 is such a silly year and his costume was dead on.
Maybe Tina Fey came back for more than just a cameo.
Also, I’m getting “Bobby McFerrin raped my grandmother” printed on a tee asap.

That wasn’t Maya Rudolph as Nancy Pelosi?!?

Which btw, I thought was the high point as far as the skits I saw (I missed the carpool sketch).

I was terribly disappointed by TV FUNHOUSE.

I have to third

“Bobby McFerrin raped my grandmother.”

That skit was cemented in as funny after the Celine Dion joke, but that line made it great.

jlrepka- agree Kristen Wiig could be a great straight actress. What exactly are the Mosquitos? I wasn’t sure if they were parodying something specific or tropical lounge lizards in general.

Well, he is gettin’ up there. But I thought he looked okay during the closing credits.

Hey! I don’t think 64 is all that up there! Hell, he’s 4 years younger than George Hamilton, and look at what Hamilton was able to accomplish on Dancing With The Stars last year…broken ribs and injured knees and all.

And don’t forget, he’s been a vegetarian all these years. I’d blame that.

We TiVoed the show and just saw it last night. It really was funny, and not just in the sketches that involved Alec Baldwin. Clearly someone on their staff can writ funny material, so why aren’t they bringing their A-game every week? I even liked the “Britney Spears Visits Her Lawyer” sketch. “Pit bulls don’t have wallets, y’all! Daaaang!”

I only saw the Nancy Pelosi bit. While I thought it was funny, I like the other comedien who plays her better. I can’t remember her name, but I think she’s the one who use to do the chearleader skits with Will Ferrell. She’s got the jerky voice inflections down perfectly! Is the carpool skit up on YouTube?

I forgot the other non-funny part- everything Tracy Morgan said in the opening. And Paul McCartney looked scary frail from where I was sitting.

No, but the Tony Bennett skit is (probably the best of the night).

The Mosquitos are a NY-based pop band with Brazilian/bossa nova influence. While most of the band members are from the US, lead singer Juju Stulbach, is from Rio. If you’ve not heard of them, check out their stuff on Amazon or iTunes.

In that boring skit, Maya was channeling Juju (and as always, doing a pretty good job of it)…

Maybe he’s trying to look like a man incapable of beating his wife, as he’s been accused of doing.

I’m sure he and Alec Baldwin had a lot to talk about as far as lurid divorce accusations are concerned.
