SNL 40th Reunion: Anyone watching?

Yeah, the “musicians” sequence was a very good segment.

Cool to see Chevy and Garrett recreating the Interpreter For The Hard Of Hearing thing was cool. I got a laugh with the WU anchorwomen and Jane’s “don’t answer the door, it’s always the shark”, and the tributes to Radner and Farley.

kunilou: some of the people sitting behind Piscopo seemed to have “refreshments” at hand…

Who was the lady in pink in the Californians skit?

Okay. I need to see the tributes to Chris Farley and (especially) Phil Hartman, and to see Eddie Murphy, NOW!

I think it was Laraine Newman.

Not a fan of Miley and her schtick but I appreciated her song there. Interesting choices all around, especially since Paul Simon was present. Well done.

Was I the only one expecting Paul Simon to join Miley on “50 Ways”?

Agree, I thought that was very nice.

nope

Needs more cowbell

fuck kanye…

wtf does he have to do with SNL and why was he give too much air??

I kept waiting for that Kanye skit to get funny but it just…didn’t.

Miley did a great job with that song.

I was glad they used Dan Akroyd for the Blues Brothers skit. I’m not sure who the other guy was (it wasn’t Jim was it?), but I was surprised they did call in John Goodman for it. Then when they called on him during the Q&A part I was even more surprised since I knew he was there. But he looked drunk.

I was also glad when I finally saw G.E. Smith with the band. I didn’t see him at the beginning, he’s sort of off to the side.

I’m pretty sure it was; he and Dan appeared together during the “red carpet” preshow.

Nice tribute. I’m glad they remembered not just the cast members but also the behind-the-scenes people. (And Generalissimo Francisco Franco.)

Yes, Jim Belushi. He was interviewed with Akroyd on the red carpet.

The two of them have been keeping the Blues Brothers alive since John died.

Wayne’s World! Excellent!

I sat down and watched both movies this summer. They are still funny as ever

Well, well, Jerry went there with the Brian Williams issue didn’t he…

Giving Adam Sandler the guitar is always a good call.

Pretty meta to have Mike Myers’ segment be the one where they tease Kanye’s behavior!

  1. Musical Guest break – that’s where Miley/Kanye/Sia come in.

Paul Simon doing “Still Crazy After All These Years” is of course quite appropriate for the type of event, gotta admit.

I think that was just a strange claustrophobic musical performance rather than a ‘skit’.

Oh yeah Jon Lovitz in the memorial was a brilliant callback!

Yes, quite so. Well played.

And their nerve did not fail them, to open the memorial with the film that had John Belushi be the only one who had lived to old age, “everyone thought I’d be the first to go…”

Some Strikeouts, but overall I enjoyed it.

It was nice to include the off camera people in the “Fallen Comrades”.

Hard to believe it has been 40 years. They show the original SNL from Oct-75 last night.
