SNL/ Baldwin

No one watched snl last night? I was expecting more, Alec is always good (haven’t he and Steve Martin hosted the most and same number of times?)

It was okay, but not as good as I’d anticipated.

I’m watching it right now on DVR, and I gotta say, the Wii skit is an instant classic.

I thought I was the only one that watched last night, and I didn’t want to start a thread if that was the case. Anyway, I agree about the Wii sketch. I bust a gut laughing this morning. I do think the wife playing with the Wii should have been done as well.

:frowning: Shoot, totally forgot about it (this 3-day weekend’s throwing me off). But, as Mr. Baldwin has told me himself, Hulu will show the best stuff anyway, so I’ll check it out there later…

Thought this thread was about me!

Totally forgot that I recorded it last night. Think I’ll take a look.

He should have stopped going on SNL long ago. He’ll never be able to top his Schweaty Balls.

Well, maybe some whipped cream and sprinkles would be nice.

Was it just me, or did the Jonas Brothers completely suck? Even when I’m not a huge fan of whatever band or artist is on, I usually expect a pretty good show. They just seemed horribly off-key and lame.

It seems to me that the target audience for the Jonas Brothers is too young to stay up late enough to watch SNL. Not to mention the fact that much of the content is inappropriate for them.

Yes. Couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket. But at least we know they tried, and didn’t just play a recording.

I kinda liked the acting lessons/coughing bit. “I don’t need a damned doctor!”

Hulu link for the curious.

I’m always suspicious when there are more than four people in a group. The Jonas Brothers are backed by a full band. Makes me wonder if the boys’ guitars are actually plugged in. Whether they are or not, the songs sucked. And aren’t the Jonases a bit ugly to be teen idols? Basically, how did those three mooks ever get anywhere? They do indeed completely suck.

I bet the backing band could play an hour long set without the brothers and kill. I doubt the brothers could do the same.

(scratches head)?? I have no idea. The female pre-teen lobbyists must be a powerful bunch. Who the hell else listens to their stuff? Seriously. No, seriously. I really, really want to know.
Same goes for that Milly Cerebrus chick.

I liked him alright. I love/hate the cougar den… It hits too close to home!

I only watched up to and through the news segment.

The only times I laughed were a couple of times during the monologue, and during the “bitchpleeze” monologue during the news.

I bet most people thought the bitchpleeze segment was dumb, but for some reason, it amused me.

I am in no way in the boy-band demographic, but ugly? Uh, no. The youngest one is a pretty boy, the middle one has kind of a Keanu Reeves thing going (was he adopted or what?) and the oldest is at least on the high end of average.

I also thought they acquitted themselves pretty well in the sketches. True they didn’t have to do any of the heavy lifting, but they seemed much more natural and at ease than a lot of guest performers (and even some hosts). Musically, they sounded a bit off but at least we can be pretty sure it was live. And some of my favorite bands have sounded bad on SNL. (I have no idea what Jonas Bros. sound like on record or in a real concert venue.)

Alec Baldwin was funny as the fourth Jonas.

I enjoyed the news segment except for the blogger segment. I hate one-joke characters. At least give me a joke and a half or make it a brief pop-in like Angelina “Where’s the Baby?” Jolie.

I will put up with a lot. I’m absurdly forgiving, and I especially have a soft spot for cheesy pop (confession: big Hanson fan here). Even though part of me kind of wants to like the JB - lord knows why - I have yet to get through a complete song of theirs without fast-forwarding. I kept thinking the mix must be off (American Idol) or the circumstances were less than ideal (freezing cold on New Years Eve), but nope, they’re just terrible.

I thought the entire thing was average at best, but that sketch had me crying laughing. It’s pretty much how I picture every snarky blogger, and a few posters on the SDMB as well.

ding ding ding! we have a winner!
that is exactly what I thought.
