Alec Baldwin hosts the last show of
the 35th season. Tom
Petty and the Heartbreakers sounding good.
Too bad they couldn’t get the Stones word is they came really close.
Comedy bits look decent Alec is a sure fire winning host.
Cast and crew alike looking forward to a great after and after after party.
Well, that was pretty weak overall. Alec Baldwin is usually one of my favorite hosts, but this was just tired. No comparison to last year’s finale with Will Ferrell, which was epic.
Agreed, few laughs from me, even during Weekend Update.
Edit: Although I did get a laugh during the monologue when Baldwin said something to the effect of, “Those of you watching this late Saturday night - or, let’s be realistic, Monday morning on a computer.” Heh.
Agree this last one was missing something.
Alec was good but the writing fell short.
Still all in all it wasn’t the worst show of the season.
I watched the first two skits - Kristen Wiig as toothy script coordinator and Alec Baldwin as swim coach. In the first one, they gave up on the unfunny “teeth” angle midway through and ad-libbed it the rest of the way. It was awful. “Swim Coach” was a little better, but not much. Then I turned it off and went to bed.
Thr Turner Classic Movie sketch was definitely the highlight, though Weekend Update was pretty solid, too.
Was the “timecrowave” sketch a deliberate homage (or rip-off, if you prefer) of the classic SF short story “Brooklyn Project” or was the similarity in plot merely a coincidence? If it was deliberate, I’m impressed that the writers are that well-read.
That got a laugh from us, too. Husband and I have called it “Sunday Morning Recorded” for awhile now. When you have small kids, it’s just too hard to stay up that late!
God, now I feel old.
Even Alec Baldwin couldn’t save this wreck of a show. I feel bad for the guy. At least when Betty White was on they had Tina Fey & Co. come back.
Still don’t understand why Kristen Wiiiigg has a job on that show…
I half-assed watched the show which I felt was fair & appropriate since that’s how it seemed to be written. I did like the TCM skit but didn’t care for WU- altho the Pookie-“Prison Jumpsuit” joke was funny.
