That was damn cute.
squee!
They’re interesting critters. We have a feeder out back and get some Anna’s every day. They take ownership of the feeder and we’ve seen pitched battles out there with interlopers. The hummer seems to know when it’s change-nectar day and sits on a branch “chipping” at me when I come out. As soon as I take the feeder, it flies up to the back window to see what I’m doing, then goes back to its perch. As soon as I put it back out, the bird flits over to take another look. It’s odd, but it seems interested in our impossibly slow human activities. Today it flew down to peek in the garage window where we were putting something away. Funny little guys.
Apparently hummingbirds have sleep torpor. I like one of the comments - “It’s not dead, it’s resting.”
(I said to my husband - “That looks like both of us after Christmas dinner.”)

That is simply beautiful. What an amazing experience!
I get some grit in my eye every time I watch. I am way envious of that fella.
I swear I once saw a hummingbird yawn. I don’t know if hummingbirds actually do yawn–it seems unlikely–but it sure looked like it.
Awwww!
I never knew birds snore… that is unbelievably adorable!
Right now, Chefguy, (and I know you’re a good’ern, from your posts) you’re deflecting the emotion…like men do. You’ve already gone past the cute videos to what YOU’VE done and what others can do…problem solving.
OTOH We’re just sitting back, feeling the feeling.
I showed that video to my sister and informed her that she was no longer entitled to accuse me of never showing her a video of a snoring hummingbird.
Her reply: “I don’t believe I have ever accused you of not showing me a video of a snoring hummingbird.”
Women.
Nah, I just ramble a lot. I love the videos, especially the guy who raised the little one and let it go. His explanation below the video about catching and grinding up flies three times a day earned my respect.
When I volunteered at a wild bird rehab we rarely saw hummers. If they were sick or injured it was pretty much impossible to bring them back. So I have to admire anyone who could raise a baby one.
I fell down the rabbit hole of hummingbird videos. I liked this one of people handfeeding hummers in Alaska.

“Grrr, man tell story! Bad man, bad! Man no have emotions!”
Yeah, I didn’t really see what she was getting at. I guess I was being admonished for not being a squee-er and as not being laid back enough to suit her. But she wasn’t mean about it, so I let it slide.
Death to all hummingbirds.
