Snow Day!

Woo Hoo! Snow day!

Ok. I love my job, and will miss my students, and if this keeps up we are going to pay for it in June, but I get to go back to bed. Later I will help my daughter make a snowman, and we will make cocoa. It’s hard to get better than that.

this is our 5th snow day in 2 weeks, the novelty has worn off.

BUt the snow sure is pretty and we have power and food, and snow tires are on the car so I say bring it on for the rest of today (8-10inches expected), but by God I hope our impoverished county has enough gas to run their plows and enough salt for the roads

Aaaarrrggghhhh . . . snow days!

Teacher here. I’m usually the first one to do a happy dance for the occasional white gift from above–the OP’s cocoa, snowman and family bonding time are delightful winter pleasures. But this year I’ve fucking had enough! We haven’t put in a full week of school since Christmas vacation! Can’t get any momentum going, school will be in session until June 19, and I’ve worn out all my fun, snow day time-filling (-killing) adventures.

Today we actually went to work only to be sent home immediately. The storm’s intensity picked up, buses went off the roads, the superintendent pulled the trigger and my summer vacation receded further into the distance. And it’s only the beginning of February.

Random snow days are a delight. This year, snow days have me growling.

As a stay-at-home-mom, I howl “Noooo!” everytime a snow day is announced. My husband happily hooks up the plow to his truck and goes off to make scads of money, while I go batshit crazy cooped up in the house with bored little kids who are off their routine.

I always figured the teachers were happy and relaxing at home, possibly more pleased than the kids were.

Last week was our first week in rehearsal for our spring musical. We have now had three rehearsals canceled due to weather, and I’m pretty sure tomorrow will be canceled as well. It’s gone from fun to kind of a problem, as we have a finite amount of time before the show goes up.

Hah! Snow? What is that? I’m in west-central New Jersey, right across the bridge from Pennsylvania. It hasn’t snowed yet this season, and I’m not too happy about it. I haven’t used my snow blower in over two years. As a matter of fact it was 68 degrees today. That’s right, 68 degrees in the supposed dead of winter in February.

Fucking Phil, this is all his fault.

Not a single day of snow this winter for me. Not even a few flakes falling at home. I hate the mild rubbishness of UK winters these days. Back in the 80s we used to get quite a lot of snow. Not any more. The temperature’s in the mid-50s today, and we only had two air frosts in the whole of January. :frowning:

I was supposed to go on a ski trip with my daughter’s class today. Instead, I’m at work and she’s at school. Reason it was canceled? Snow!

Snow day? What’s that? We don’t get those around here. Plenty of snow and bitter cold, but we’re just expected to soldier on…

Yeah, yeah, yeah… You’ve never had school bus cancellations… I know…
ETA: Ch’yeah right!
