:: from the frozen north, slaps Siam Sam with a wet trout ::
Just got in from cross country skiing in the park here. It was snowing on and off all week, and then about 3" last night, followed by a clear sunny day today. Beautiful day.
Big deal. We could do that, too. Oh, wait. You mean 27C.
We’re getting the big midwestern storm right now, and my 12-y-o son is big (as in muscular) enough (and motivated enough by $$$) to do a very thorough job of shoveling the drive! Yahoo!
I have already had more of my share of driving in sucky conditions, but I love snow anyway.
I don’t miss driving in it, or dealing with nasty black road snow for weeks after a big snow, but I do miss the nice blanket of white, keeping everything beautiful and quiet after a good snow.
I’m in PA, and we keep getting teased with snow, but nothing yet. “Ooo, there will be a winter storm watch! Ooo, four inches!” What have we had? Bupkis and ice that knocked down a tree branch next to our office. Couldn’t even hit it and let us leave, could you? Noooooo. Gimme a good blizzard so’s I can call in! We used to have 'em!
I love the fact it kills little things, like black flies, ticks, mosquitoes. Those that it doesn’t kill, it subdues till the following spring. I’m all for that.
Today we’re getting anywhere from 6-12 inches (love the predictable forecasts) where I am in Maine. Shortly I’ll be heading out to plow and go to the grocery store and see all the people there buying their milk, ice cream, and beer (necessities, y’know).
I absolutely love it on the weekends when it can be all cleaned up before I have to go to work. Weekday commutes suck @ss. And then to have to clean up afterwards is just a big ol’ sigh.
Yeah, no kidding. Our last forecast was 10"-24".
Yeah, that helps.
I love snow!
It snowed maybe twice when I was a child, and haven’t really seen any decent snow since i’m an adult (well, apart from that ski holiday we took in March ).
Maybe i love it so much because I rarely see any? I love how it makes the world look, it muffles sound, and it’s great to play with.
How can you not like it?
Yeah, I’d like it too, if I was only familiar with it in concept.
How can I not like it? It took me over two hours to get home on Thursday night. It normally takes about 30 - 45 minutes. I have friends who were stuck in their cars for upwards for four hours. It took me forty minutes to walk to the train station on Friday. It’s normally a ten minute walk. It took *another * forty minutes to get into town on the train, which is normally a 15 minute ride. By the time I got to work, I was freezing, soaked, late, and very, *very * cranky. And the shoveling. Jesus Christ, the fucking shoveling.
What exactly is to *like * about any of that?
I love the snow!!!
It’s the ice that forms on my driveway from windsheer after it melts that I hate.
