TIMING…SLEET DEVELOPING NEAR MIDNIGHT THEN CHANGING TO SNOW BY
3 AM… CONTINUING THROUGH EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON POSSIBLY
HEAVY AT TIMES.
My plans for the day: Get on a plane at 4:00, fly to DFW (Dallas) where I’ll change to a connecting flight; I’m supposed to have 1:50 layover.
Where will I end up sleeping tomorrow night? (Poll to follow.)
I voted for Salt Lake. The good news is that you make all your flights. The bad news is you get woken up at an ungodly hour by several hopelessly lost Jehovah’s Witnesses.
You left out the ‘Other’ option. You will make it to Dallas all right but flights out to Salt Lake City will be canceled. However, there is a little bit of hope. There is a single flight to Denver that they will put you on. After a eight hour delay, you will make it to Denver so late that there are no more flights to Salt Lake City tomorrow night but there is one to Las Vegas! You will go there and get so caught up in the gambling and partying that you will miss your connection at the ass crack of dawn on Friday morning. All flights to Salt Lake City will be booked until Sunday so you get desperate and decide to ride in a van with some stoner band members who just happen to hear about your dilemma and need some gas money. You will get to Salt Lake City mid-day Sunday without your luggage (because the airline still has it and you will never get it back).
You may scoff but I had something very similar happen to me once back in the late 90’s. Six airports, two hotels and three days later, we finally got there but I am an optimist.
UPDATE:Shagnasty, this isn’t the Pit, I can’t call you want I really want to, but, ummm, you were the closest to being right! 6:40am this morning I get a call - flight is cxl’d. The DFW - SLC leg, but when I looked online, the first leg was cxl’d also. Called UScareways, nothing out of Philly tomorrow either, so I’m rebooked Newark, NJ - Charlotte, NC - Salt Lake City. First class, too! 11:40am EWR - CLT is now cancelled for tomorrow! :smack: Called again. Because of all of the other cancels & missed connections, there’s now availability on a direct flight tonight @ 6:00, which is just about when the storm will end. So it looks like options 1 & 3 are still available to you.
