Um, holy crap! Here’s sending good thoughts (and a donation!) your way.
Wishing you the very best in fighting this. The way you are coping is awesome!
Thank you all for getting this set up!
I’m really sorry Chique. You have all my best wishes.
Well, I always liked the story of The Little Engine That Could…
Take good care!
Wow…just wow. We never know when life is going to throw us a curve ball. You’ve reminded us just how vulnerable we all are. At the moment, I’m financially embarrassed (read: flat broke) so I’m sending all the good mojo I can muster. Good luck.
Yes, what she said.
Has been a slightly little bit insane this week and I haven’t been able to get online as much as I normally do. I seriously cannot thank everyone enough for the well-wishes.
Very, very best wishes to you. I’ll help too. Hope you have MUCH happier holidays to look forward to, chique!
It’s been three months since I fell over and I thought some of you might like an update:
I had a second MRI on my brain on 11 January which showed, in a nutshell, that radiation didn’t do anything. In fact, since November, all of the lesions have either remained the same or grown slightly, with the largest lesion growing from 1.9 x 1.7cm to 2.2 x 1.6cm in January.
On 28 January I had a chest and pelvis CT scan which shows “a mild interval increase in size and number of numerous metastatic deposits”. There is nothing on my liver, gallbladder, or pancreas. There is a 5.7cm mass on my left adrenal gland (it was at 5.0cm in November). The 16cm mass on my ovary is still there and they’ve bumped it up from a cyst to a malignancy.
Because the radiation didn’t do anything last time they’re not going to try again.
Because the chemo I’ve been doing hasn’t done anything they’re not going to continue it and chemo was canceled.
However, my oncologist is switched me to an oral chemo called Temodar which has had some success in slowing down the growth of brain lesions. That was a 5-day course which is now done; I expect to have more scans within the next month to see if anything happened.
I’ve also been on a steroid called dexamethsone 4x day, but I’ve stopped that as of yesterday and I already feel 50% better. It plays hell with my blood sugar and being able to eat and drink whatever I want (never mind walk, stand up, and think clearly) is part of my personal “quality of life” plan; drug-related diabetes isn’t. We may work on a plan B (2x day + oral insulin or something) or we may not; not sure yet.
Those of you who contributed to that Paypal thread - I can’t thank you enough. Social Security is supposed to start in a couple of weeks and there’s no way I’d have made it this far had it not been for you guys. Thank you again.
Wow, just wow. I was really hoping the treatments would help you.
I’m thinking good thoughts for you. I’m sorry there isn’t more I can do.
chique, I’ve been thinking about you. Positively. I’ll continue to do so.
chique I’ll continue to offer prayers that you will get better with treatment. I’m sorry there was not better news.
Well phooey. Please let us know if there’s anything we can do.
Wow, chique. I’m sorry. Sending prayers for you.
Good Luck, chique. Insulin injections and/or metformin are not that bad to deal with short term. I had to take insulin when I was pregnant and had gestational diabetes. It beats the hell out of trying to control it with diet alone or dealing with even the short term effects of high blood sugar. I am not sure what is meant by oral insulin, is that new?
Aw, chique, I’m sorry the radiation and chemo didn’t do you much good. That totally sucks. Please let us know if we can help again financially. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers. Here’s to a prompt and full recovery.
More prayers from here chique. Hang in there.
chique, like others, I’m sorry there isn’t more I can do than putting a little $$ in your PayPal account. If there was, believe me, I’d be doing it!
Also like others, my prayers/good thoughts/good vibes will continue!
Chique you are truly an amazing person. Im thinking of you, please take care of yourself.
Take care

The stuff they gave me is called glipizide and has been around 15 years, but even with that my blood sugar shot up to 750. So I stopped taking the steroid but am staying on the glipizide until my levels get tested again tomorrow, at which point I’ll discuss things further with my onc.
