A few weeks ago we had a thunderstorm that knocked out my apartment complex’s cable out for a few days. A week later when they finally got around to turning my cable back on I realized I couldn’t get online to play SOCOM. I tried several times, but I kept getting a “network cable unplugged” message. Huh, I thought, that must mean the cable is fried. So I tried using the cable I use to go online with my computer. My PS2 tried to connect for a minute or two and then gave me a “Connection failure” message. Annoyed by the idea that I just might have to buy a new adapter I tried to reason with myself that maybe a port on the router is screwey. So I tried again with a new cable, and I got another “Connection Failure” message.
Now I would think that if the adapter was fried my PS2 would act like I didn’t have an adapter installed at all, but that doesn’t seem to be the case. So what’s the verdict here? Is it time to buy new hardware? Is there something else I can try? Help would be greatly appreciated
