So FinnAgain level with me (EVE)

Did you and your commie rag have something to do with ruining my cruise missile market in Dodixie? I ruled the Wrath Cruise Missile market in Sinq Laison with a velvet glove for nearly 8 months carefully managing the prices there. I had a nice cycle of selling my stock out and then buying up other people’s stocks when it got too low. I could always depend on other people’s stock selling out if I just refrained from selling for a week. If the price would go below 130 per missile I’d buy up a quarter million here and there to insure that competition wouldn’t send the prices too low even though that’s above my cost to build them at about 117 per missile. Then I went on vacation, and you guys published a how-to on the market, now there are literally millions of missiles in Dodixie for less than 130. I even bought up about half a million of them and it didn’t put a dent in it. Now I have 1.4m Wrath Cruise Missiles, and it’ll take me more than a week to sell them rather than selling 1/4 to 1/2 in a single day.

So tell me, is this your fault? Did you and the other communists at the Eve Tribune fuck up my cruise missile market?

Wait, someone messed up the wrath missile market? That was our best market! An outrage I say! Don’t make me come back there!

Yeah, they fucked it up but good. They are down at 117 per missile!!! Can you believe it?

I’ve moved into T2 mods a lot though. It just means that Wraths are no longer my primary market.

Your tears, they fuel my [del]spaceship[/del] wallet’s blinking.

/me snickers

Heh, the wallet blinks more when your profit margin’s not like 1 or 2%.

Currently making about 1000% profit on the cruise missiles I’ve been trading in. All my ammo is going for >250% right now, actually.

I will, however, make sure to mention in my next article that folks should head over to Sinq as that’s a good market. Also that they should pay particular attention to T2 mods.
Any other complaints?

LOL. Doesn’t matter now anymore. The T2 market anywhere is good and anyone that knows anything about trading knows about Dodixie. What kinds of volumes are you getting with those profit margins? I always focused on sales volume more than profit margin myself.

Soon, soon I will be done with my Master’s program and can get back into this. I miss you guys :frowning:

Heh, sweet. Look forward to it. You’ll be able to do all kinds of T2 production. You can already fly an Itty V and Gallente Transport ships. I’m working on your basic skills for T2 invention at the moment. When I went on Vacation I worked on a lot of T2 ship skills for all of the toons. Teth can fly Interceptors as a result, Teras is within a day or two of Command Ships, and Jock I skilled for Transport ships.

Sorry for the hijack…

I been playing Eve a little on and off for 3 years, but usually a month here and a month there.

So recently I wanted to give it another try, and I am starting from scratch because I foolishly told a buddy of mine to go ahead and take my main (which had mostly trained learning skills).

I just am not sure what would be the best way to go for making my new toon.

Can someone help me out?

I want to have a character that will be able to make lots of ISK, blow up lots of people, and maybe do that exploration stuff for valuable loot. Probably there are other things I would like to try, but for now those first 3 would suffice. I assume that I will be running missions for awhile to make ISK…right?

Wait, Finn writes stuff that people read?

ManiacMan Run missions and invest that in the market. You can get up and running pretty quickly. Get yourself up to where you can run a Level 3 mission sufficiently in a Battlecruiser and then train up Assault Frigates along with exploration skills so you can run sites to make more money. A good plex running frigate is an Ishkur with T2 drones.

Roughly 15 to 20 thousand per week.

Innnteresting. I do not play Eve. But I have at least two completely unconnected groups of friends that do. (One group is goons, one is not at all.)

Want to see if we can leverage things a bit? Just to mess around. I enjoy Eve as a spectator sport.

My trading stuff is mostly solitary.
I am going to be putting together a ‘market PvP’ squad to go fuck with enemies’ home regions, but I’m going to keep that one in-house.

Oh, and:

The problem is that it’ll take time for any one thing, and that’s part of the reason why many of us use at least one alt account. (I have two).

Now, for exploration the best thing to do is get a character with the Cov Ops skill to IV or ideally V, the various probing skills to IV or ideally V, Cybernetics to a high enough level to use the mid-grade probing implants, and a set of faction core scan probes. After that point, the best plexing will be in 0.0 space, which is generally rather jealously guarded. If I was out with one of my gangs, for instance, and saw neutrals in my space (under NBSI policy: Not Blue, Shoot It), I’d probe you down and do my best to kill you, ideally with 'dictors on the out gates.

For that reason, you’d want to get with a solid 0.0 outfit. I’m sure that bits of the Northern Coalition are recruiting, as are their pets. Plexing is also awesome down in Querious/Delve, so one of the Goons’ pet alliances would be a good bet. Beware, though, that unless you’re a member of Something Awful then any Goon invitations to join them are most likely a scam. Never give them ISK.

Also be aware that in order to actually run even the baseline plexes you generally need a well tanked Ishtar or something of the sort. They can be done in a Drake, but under no circumstances should you spend a single SP in missile tech unless you plan on going for a Bomber, and then it’s still rather lame. Harder (and more rewarding plexes) generally require a tank, a remote repper, and DPS. Although with a properly fit Ishtar it can be both tank and DPS in certain plexes. That setup generally requires one person and their alt, or two people. Harder plexes will require a tank, remote repper and two sources of DPS. Three for really heavy stuff. With you doing the probing, you can get any (non-asshole) corp mates to give you a cut of the loot. And a good hour of plexing can make you more than weeks’ worth of trading.

Also, 0.0 rats will make you about as much as Empire missions with the added possibility of faction and officer spawns. But PvE is boring. Avoid it as much as you can.

While you’re ramping up it makes sense to put some time into running missions, but they’re boring as watching paint dry, and if you’re not a diehard carebear you’ll tire of them quickly. Really, you’ll want to get the fuck out of Empire as fast as you can, because it sucks. For a general guide as to the skills you’ll eventually want to have (and should plug into EveMon), I’d suggest this article.

For life in any 0.0 alliance you’ll want to be able to fly a battleship (ideally, Amarr) with T2 weaponry… the long range variant is necessary while the short range is good but not required. For roaming gangs you’ll want to be able to fly a HAC (Heavy Assault Cruiser), ideally a Muninn or Zealot. Being able to fly an interdictor is also nice, but don’t waste time on any but the Minmatar one, which is by far the best, or the Amarr one which can also be used for probing due to its slot layout and grid/cpu. If you’re flying with a good FC you’ll be prohibited (once you’re not a noob anymore) from bringing joke ships like Assault Frigates or Interceptors. Don’t waste time training for them. While you’re still a noob you can be perfectly useful with a Rifter or Executioner or something anyways, and in 0.0 there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that non-bomber frigate class ships do well enough to justify their inclusion. Ditto for Command Ships. They are, in general, overpriced underpowered pieces of junk that way too many people train for. In a few circumstances it makes sense to have on in a fleet, but training for one is most likely going to be a complete waste of your time.

Work on getting into a good 0.0 organization, work on getting in a battleship and T2 cruisers, and you’ll be fine.

And once again, them Jews control the world’s economy.

I did a little bit of that in Faction War. I’d sell the Amarr faction their lasers back to them.

This is why we come in through wormholes when we plex in 0.0.

That’s true in 0.0 but you can do plexes in empire with an assault frigate and make tens of millions per plex. Eve has something for every skill level, a lot of the older school players forget what it’s like to be a noob and usually suggest you use something that takes almost a year of training to fly properly.

Yes, PvE is pretty boring. And yes ratting in 0.0 is quite lucrative.

They’re not that boring at first, but they get stale eventually.

Yeah, I have never heard an interceptor or an assault frigate called a joke ship by anyone before. Assault Frigates aren’t often worth it for fleet combat but interceptors are pretty dope. For instance you have to be able to fly an Assault Frigate at skill level 4 to fly any of the Heavy Assault Cruisers he is suggesting, and Assault Frigates can be very fun throwaway ships. I’ve taken them on POS assaults and gotten pretty high up on the DPS scale. One thing that’s cool about **Finn’s **elitist attitude is that with an AF you can be pretty good in it at a low SP and because a lot of people erroneously think like **Finn **does you don’t get primaried and you can end up running some good e-war, tackle or even DPS from an assault frigate. With AFs and good skills you can get 250 DPS or more on a ship that flies 1000m/s or more with an afterburner. I absolutely love Ishkurs, one of the best in the game, and in the last alliance tournament they were simply dominating the field.

FinnAgain is giving you a fairly elitist bit of advice. He’s not entirely wrong, but it’s very very very biased and is kind of bad advice for a noob.
