If this belongs somewhere else, or it doesn’t belong on these boards at all I understand…
What precautions must should we take, if any?

Huh?
I should clarify. What are we going to do about the people who are upset that Trump gets impeached and might take to the streets?
Just a guess here, but probably the same thing we’ll do when Trump doesn’t get impeached…i.e., nothing much. Hopefully, either way, what ‘we’ will do is, you know, vote. I’m not sure what you are envisioning, but I think in either case (Trump is impeached or Trump isn’t impeached), you’ll have a non-zero number of people pissed off, and perhaps enough of them will get together to protest and…well, that’s kind of their right. The right of assembly and all that. If they go beyond that into violence, well…that’s what jails are for.
They’re the ones with the guns.
There are a lot of extremists out there you know?
Some Dems have guns too. You could even get yourself a gun if you’re worried about it. I’d recommend something small-caliber, and definitely not one of those icky semi-auto’s. Get something that you have to really take your time to reload. Maybe something single-shot, or a black-powder pistol.
Brush and floss at least once per day, annual checkups, look both ways before crossing the street, don’t run with scissors will get you pretty far.
I don’t see how there would be any retaliation either way. If Trump is impeached but the Senate fails to kick him out of office (which is the likeliest outcome,) then there’ll be no reason for Trumpers to riot. If he is impeached and removed by the Senate, then Pence becomes president - even then, I think most Trumpers will not feel enough anger to use violence, since Pence is a conservative who lines up with most of their views.
Um…are you expecting them to, what? Rise up in armed rebellion because Trump gets impeached? Sorry, but the effect of Trump getting impeached would be, IMHO, nothing much. Probably some protests, maybe some heated words on message boards, and that’s about it. I don’t think that anyone is going to go off the rails and start shooting at anyone over Trump getting impeached.
On the flip side, if the Dems try and impeach Trump and it fails, then you’ll get a different set of angry people…possibly even more of them…who will also have access to guns or improvised explosives or those car thingies (did you think that only fringe Trump supporters are allowed or have access to guns, or only they would use them?). And I expect there to be protests and rallies and heated words on message boards, and that’s about it. I don’t expect a massive rebellion or shooting war or whatever it is you are implying or afraid of. I suppose it’s possible that some nut will do something spectacular on one side or the other, but we periodically get that anyway, so I don’t expect it to go beyond, maybe, a lone nut.
In point of fact, I don’t think there ARE a lot of extremists out there on either side. I think there are a few nuts, but most people aren’t extremist in so far as they are willing to risk their own lives or take others for something like Trump’s impeachment.
 @ OP and thread
They could riot…
Look, I’m just trying to assess all outcomes.
Is it really that far-fetched? Maybe it is I don’t know.
Seriously. You don’t have to be… The way you’re being. Save the condescending remarks for the Trump supporters.
It floated in my head for a while.
I think it’s fairly far-fetched to think President Trump will be impeached, for starters. Nancy put the kibosh on that idea a while ago, and there doesn’t seem to be any big game-changer in the Mueller report that would change her position.
Even if he were to be impeached though, he’s very unlikely to be removed from office. And without him being removed from office, there’s very little for Republicans to be particularly upset about. Without a lot of upset Republicans, you probably don’t have to worry about riots, at least from all those scary gun-toting Republicans (as others have noted, some far-left fringe types might riot if Nancy doesn’t impeach him). Even with a lot of upset Republicans, “riots” are rather few and far between amongst Republicans. It seems to be more of a Democrat thing.
They could not…
Yes, it’s pretty far fetched.
Ok then.
It kind of is far fetched. Oh, I expect people to be pissed, don’t get me wrong. His supporters and probably even just some Republicans who are kind of meh about him would see it as a politically motivated move, not as a real censure of what he’s done. And those folks are going to be pissed. And probably riled up to vote as well. But armed rebellion? No way. The majority of people aren’t that committed to anything or anyone, certainly not to Trump, to risk their lives and their livelihoods doing something so stupid and pointless. Crazy people would, of course, but they are set off periodically anyway. But wide spread rebellion that we’d have to ‘deal with’? :dubious: It’s not going to happen, either way.
Myself, I want him to be impeached. But that’s my personal desire. Politically, I am on the fence if this is the best course for the Democrats to take with the upcoming election, well, upcoming. I’ve followed the thread I started in elections on this, and I can see both sides. I know what I WANT…but, in the end, what I REALLY want is for Trump to be gone. But even if the low probability of the Dems not only getting the impeachment going but getting enough Republicans on board to push it through completely through both houses, I don’t see anyone save a lone nut case riled enough to start shooting. And I don’t see anyone riled enough if the Dems try and fail to do it either.
Awesome answer.
It probably should have stayed there. Seriously, wha?
So you’re expecting a good old fashioned sitzkrieg.
His followers are rabidly hostile to everyone else; I expect they would react to impeachment by lashing out at the rest of humanity, which is exactly how they already act 24/7.
