I’ve heard several times, both in these threads and elsewhere, that I have no reason to worry because the Republican led Congress will impeach Trump before he goes too far.
The same Republicans that promised he would never get become a serious candidate.
The same Republicans that promised he would never come out on top.
The same Republicans that promised his ass would be grass come convention time.
The same Republicans that promised they would never support him or vote for him.
What exactly would Donald Trump have to do and/or say to convince this Republican-led Congress to successfully impeach him?
Hahahaha. I wouldn’t be to concerned about seeing another impeachment anytime soon. OTOH, Democrats will tell each other anything in order to help forget the fact that Hillary simply couldn’t turn out voters where she needed them.
However, if Trump acted like ol’ Hillary had promised to, the U.S. House might consider impeaching him. Nah, only ol’ Hillary’s scandals would have led to an impeachment. Like husband, like wife.
Maybe if he mooned the Senate, fucked all the Congressmen’s wives and tried to appoint his dog as a Supreme Court Justice, the Republicans might consider it Might.
Cute.
Seriously, is there anything he could do that would convince the Republicans to impeach him, or do you really believe he has and/or deserves a free pass?
Honestly, I assumed that the Republicans had been preparing to impeach Trump since he accepted the nomination. They’d probably love to get Pence in his place. I expected them to wait for Trump to provide them with a reason, then unload both barrels.
I hadn’t considered this before, and it’s a great point. I think it hinges on just how destabilizing Trump turns out to be, but it would definitely thwart any pre-emptive GOP plan to swap in Pence.
I don’t think that’s any more possible with executive orders than if Obama tried to sign an executive order instituting a mandatory registration of guns. He simply doesn’t have the power to do it. (And I’d oppose both of these hypothetical executive orders if they were tried)
I could certainly imagine actions that would convince Republicans to impeach him, but I haven’t seen anything in his “first 100 days” proposals that I see as impeachable offenses.
Unfortunately, if we can believe what Trump supposedly offered Kasich, it sounds like Pence will be running the government anyways… Trump will just serve as the (awful) ‘idea man’ and a rubber stamp for Pence and the Congress.
Yeah-Funny how, since he first started his campaign people have dismissed his every effort by saying pretty much the same thing, over and over and over again.
