Any Sirius subscribers happen to catch Howard’s debut this morning? Any comments or reviews?
Just curious…I’ll be making the jump to satellite in about a month or so.
I thought his first day was Jan. 9th?
I’ll be subscribing in the next month or so myself.
His first fay is definitely Jan 9th, and David Lee Roth’s first day was unbearble…
in fact, His first DAY is definitely Jan 9th, and David Lee Roth’s first day was UNBEARABLE…
that dyslexic moment was brought to you by 10 days of my kids being home…
I liked his uncle, though. Radio Chick was atrocious.
I caught some of the Adam Carolla show on KLSX 97.1, Howards old station here in Los Angeles.
He has a female side kick who tries so hard to be Robin (laughs just like Robin)and a male side kick who tries to be Artie.
He interviewed his Dad and quizzed him with questions about his past jobs. Sounds just like the Howard Stern show without Howard and being done badly. Can’t Adam come up with his own material even the first day?
January 9 can’t come quickly enough for me. I’m all set up for Howard’s first show.
I listened to the same bit as you of Adam Corolla.
Now were you referring to Jimmy Kimmel as the sidekick? Jimmy and Adam are friends and have hosted the Man Show together and done other projects. Jimmy has his own tv show so I figure he was just sitting in to help his buddy out on the first day. Same way Adam would go on Kimmel’s earlier show “Win Ben Stein’s Money”. I don’t think he’s a permanent fixture.
The woman is pointless and unncessary but I’m sure corporate told them they had to have a female voice on the show.
I actually really liked the Adam’s dad trivia contest. It did seem a little Stern-like but it was still funny. And since talking and bagging on his parents has long been a bit Adam has done even on Loveline and Stern doesn’t own ‘bits with parents’ I don’t see a problem.
Yeah, the 9th is right. I can’t WAIT!
I am enjoying Sirius (we don’t have to say ah-ah-ah anymore, right?) very much, btw. I got it for Christmas.
Howards two Sirius live tests on Jan 3 and 5 were awesome. The 3rd show was around an hour and the 5th was over two hours. Mostly equipment checks, but there was some really funny stuff in there.
When we went to the movies over the Christmas break, we were treated to an ad that featured a night sky. The opening overture from Also Sprach Zarathustra played, a la ** 2001**, and some of the stars began to move, eventually forming a “constellation” that looked kinda like a mushroom. Then a “comet” came out of the exact center of the mushroom, arced across the sky, and splattered on the other side of the screen, leaving a message: "Howard Stern. Coming to Sirius Jan. 9:
The audience, rather than buzzing with discussion, sat silent. I think they were stunned by he spot’s blatant coarseness. It was the single most tasteless ad I’ve ever seen. Knowing stern, that was wholely intentional.
