So, I Bought An Electric Treadmill Today

The New Years resolutions start tomorrow. It cost just over $1,000 and is supposed to do everything but bring me cold beer.

I am posting this just in case you never hear from me again. There are plenty of middle age corpses out there

Did it come with a free plane, or do you already have one?

From my experience you would be more dedicated to “exercise” if you had bought the model that brings you cold beer.

Although, to be serious, what happened with mine was that, even on the softest setting, it causes all sorts of rheumatic problems with my feet. It took me ages to work that out and now I walk in the real world, with fewer problems. Best wishes but beware.

Thanks** Don’t Ask**. I did have several a few years back - the biggest worry for me is the damage that could be done to the knees. I also love walking in the real world, but that was Brisbane and this is Perth. Perth is so flat around where I live there is no real challenge. Plus the heat means I would be going at a very early hour a lot of the year.

Mangetout- you had me thinking but I finally got it  I may find the answer and sell it to the SDMB.

I purchased a formerly $1,700 treadmill at a garage sale for $30 because it slipped badly. The sellers figured they were screwing me and had made a DIY fix to get it out the door. It took me about an hour to undo their fixes and make it right.

I found the treadmill to be great here on icy days when I used to run with screws in my shoes to prevent falling. I can get a very consistent workout and save some time as well.

I suggest you start moderately and increase the time slowly. The most important thing is to be consistent and not give up the program.

Thanks Al. My SO will be using it as well and that will be after she gets home from work so between us we should get value.

Somehow I doubt that ice will be an issue here- I’ll set it up in the games room and have my old records blasting along to keep me company.

I bought one in June and now that it is cold out, my wife and I take turns walking on it every day.

Great purchase.
