What exactly is the point of this bullshit again?
The point is that people could go back and change their posts to say something different.*
This may not seem big but in GD it could change the whole thread.
If you make a coding error or bad typo mail a mod for the forum and they will fix it for you.
Not too much of a problem.
*This may surprise you but there are a lot of mad bastards who end up at this place who would definitly do this all the time to back up the shit that they post.
Welcome
I guess so that people can’t go back and retract their statements. I can of some posters in particular, and some threads in particular, which could have resulted in anarchy if this feature had been enabled. Most people are pretty forgiving about coding screwups, and oft-times the Mods will fix it for you if you ask politely.
So given that you’ve got preview (a feature which you can use multiple times before posting once) plus the possibility of getting coding errors fixed if you’ve somehow missed preview, just what kind of things would you fix after the event?
No, you can’t edit your fucking posts. Or even the non-fucking ones. Why do you fucking need to?

If you really want something to change, it helps to not swear. People tend to not take your point or query seriously when you do.
For example, this is not my first attempt at replying to your OP. I decided to be nice, and rewrote everything sans sarcasm.
As the previous posters have noted, there are ways to compensate for the removal of the editing feature. The one I prefer, which is repeated previewing of your post, is easy to do. It teaches patience and proofreading skills, and is less a strain on the server than editing is. Best of all, it becomes a habit after a while. It has saved me from looking like a complete bitch and/or idiot many times. Give it a try.
In the future, you may want to do a search on threads in the About This Message Board forum, as this topic has come up many, many times before. Perhaps by reading previous discussion you may understand why things are the way they are around here.
In the face of all the suffering this world has seen in the past months, he feels he’s been slighted because the Nazis on the free web board can dare refuse him the right to edit his life’s work of cleverness.
You poor little fucking martyr. Can I contribute to your rehabilitation fund? I know getting over this will take years of fucking therapy for you.
Grow the fuck up, toad boy. And, if you ever get a woman, be comforted in knowing that the only reason she’d be with you is that she has less self-esteem than you.

Thanks for that Fenris
Next time I think “You can’t now shut the fuck up” will do.
Well, there’s this whole bit where we want to see everything that you’ve written so that it provides a complete… shall we say record of your contributions. Which seems to mostly center around the word fuck, but whatever works for you.
That’ll teach me to be nice to anyone. Especially in the Pit.
That was the cleanest and nicest whoosh I think I’ve ever seen. It made my day. Thanks!

“What exactly is the point of this bullshit again?”
Getting it right the first time, jagoff.
I <heart> Fenris.
Also, IMO, no one really needs to email a mod everytime they make a typo. Can you imagine the number of messages those poor souls would get if they got an edit request everytime someone typed “teh”?!
You should from now on do what I always have done and continue to do in the future including right now. Write a poslt that is perfectly crafted to make yoru point succintly with out repetition or hashing over tangential points brought up by previous posters so that it can not be improved and has not mistakes grammatical or spelling and can be read easily by everyone who reads it. Thatway, you won’t need to edit your posts after you submit them or you could just hit the little “preview” button and proof read your post and make sure the coding works and you have subjects agree with their verbs. It’s not that tough. **
Fenris, that link just made you my favoritest person.

Proposal one: allow editing messages within 5 minutes after they were posted.
Proposal two: allow editing messages as long as they are the last message in the thread (i.e., no one has responded).
