So, I finally got to see Spamalot.

haven’t seen the musical yet though I want to. One question - does it… like… end properly?

The first time I saw the movie, the credit were in the beginning, but I thought they were just the usual beginning of movie credits. At the end, the movie breaks the fourth wall, and just kind of stops. Me and my friends thought this was some kind of dramatic pause, or joke or something, since we hadn’t seen the end credits yet, and since the movie didn’t have a real ending to it’s “plot”. Then the video ran out of black and just became static! We were very confused lol. I’ve heard that some versions move the credits to the end for this reason…

In case anyone is coming to Las Vegas, it is at the Wynn Hotel/Casino and I saw it a few months ago. Great show!

My wife and I saw it there about 6 weeks ago and we enjoyed it, but…

OK, you lot in the US think you get it (Monty Python), but you don’t, really.

The entire point of Camelot is that there’s this big build-up (“We are the Knights of Camelot, we love to drink and dance a lot…”) only to decide in the end “On second thoughts, let us not go to Camelot. It is a silly place.” You’re not supposed to go to Camelot!

The whole thing felt vaguely Americanised in a way I couldn’t quite put my finger on- yes, it was very enjoyable (and they had [del]Mr. Peterman[/del] John O’Hurley as King Arthur; an inspired piece of casting) but overall I think it lacked something from the original.

In short, it’s well worth seeing, but don’t expect Monty Python & The Holy Grail II: Holier Grail or anything like that…

That was Eponine from Les Miserables

I’m going to see it this Saturday in Raleigh…I’m looking forward to it!

It does end properly, for sufficiently vague values of “properly.” The show does break the fourth wall – in the course of trying to find the Grail. You’ll love it.

(When I saw Spamalot, I laughed; I cried; I kissed a bunch of bucks goodbye.)

Will you pay close attention to the French Taunting scene and the French Villagers when they come out…I really want to know who all was represented…
We have…
Marcel Marceau
Eponine from Les Miserables (Julius Henry, Thanks!)
a French Artist (do they have a name? Is it Monet?)

Please??? For me???

I saw it last summer on Broadway and thoroughly enjoyed it. I took my 11-year-old daughter to it .

We didn’t buy the coconuts, but we brought the completely absurd and overpriced cow catapult home for my son. I now also have a black T-shirt, suitable for every remaining birthday I’ll ever have, that says I’m Not Dead Yet.

Sure thing!

To add to your list:
A girl with a big basket of flowers
A girl with a pink poodle
Two French Legionaires

For the “we need a Jew” scene, there was no audience participation.

After the song, Patsy reveals that he’s Jewish on his mother’s side. When asked by Arthur why he didn’t reveal this sooner, Patsy replies that “It’s not the sort of thing you say to a heavily armed Christian.”

For our local twists, we had a reference or two to Clay Aiken and a sampling of James Taylor’s “Going to Carolina” from the Knights [who until recently said] Ni.

I loved it, by the way! I got a T-shirt and a CD.

As I mentioned earlier, I saw it with a friend yesterday. We were in stitches through most of it. We missed a bit of business because our seats were at the extreme side of the theater and the fixed set pieces at the ends of the stage cut off part of the view, but not enough to really matter. I liked the Laker Girls

After the show we had dinner and went back to my place to watch my DVD of the movie, which I had picked up last year but never gotten around to watching.

We have tickets to see it in Dayton OH (of all places) this Saturday. I can’t wait!

I have tickets to Dayton on Sunday!! (Yes, I’m driving 3 hours to see a musical)

May 14, 7:30 pm. I shelled out for 8 tickets (me, my husband, three “children,” two of their significant others, and a spare because someone always says “Oh, I wish I’d gotten a ticket, I’d have loved to come along.”). I keep taking the tickets out of their envelope just to maker sure they’re real.

My boyfriend is currently in Tucson, AZ doing an internship and will be driving back to Ohio that weekend. We’re meeting in Dayton, seeing the show, then driving back to Cleveland. So technically, Dan’s driving ~2,000 miles to the show.

That’s funny because he’s actually appearing in the Broadway production right now.

See you there, OpalCat!

Saw it last night with the Mrs. and the littlest Mercotan.

The Mrs. and I saw “Holy Grail” in the theaters when it was first released, oh so many decades ago. Since then, I’ve seen it at least 40 times, and have drilled the dialogue into the kids.

We all loved it, and I was frankly laughing so hard that I had tears rolling down my face on at least 6 occasions.

One priceless moment that some other people told me they didn’t see in their performances:

Tim the Enchanter hovers in the air, and cries out “Blow Me” in a loud voice, followed by silence. The audience is stunned, everyone waits for the next line. Which is “is the cave of Caer Bannog, wherein lies a clue to the grail”. The audience goes insane with laughter.

Was that in anyone else’s show?

We’d see it again in a minute.

Yes that line was in the show we saw. We loved it! I got the “Fetchez la vache!” t-shirt. The only thing I wasn’t 100% on was the “I’m Not Dead” song/scene. I felt it went on too long.

I saw some clips on YouTube of the 2005 Tony Awards where they performed a scene; Tim Curry as Arthur and Sara Ramirez (Callie from Grey’s Anatomy) as the Lady of the Lake… now that would have been an awesome cast to see!

3 hrs and 25 mins.

I’ll be sitting down enjoying some Spamalot. I just found out we got tickets and am really excited.

I just hope that all the great things I’ve heard about it doesn’t set the bar too high.

Will report back tomorrow!
