The unsolicited adivice is fine, especially since it sounds like good advice.
StG, we have already borrowed a portable DVD player. Great minds and all that.
Thanks for the offer, though.

Keep the updates coming – y’all are both very much in my thoughts, as well as my prayers.
The update is that things have been rough. Rick developed pneumonia the second day after surgery and has been in the Critical Care Unit ever since. He has a nasal canula feeding him oxygen and is pretty much stuck in bed. We had originally hoped he would be home today. Instead, he is in CCU. It is all very discouraging, evne though they are treating it and he will eventually get over the pneumonia. Plus, we still don’t know the type of cancer it is, prognosis, treatment, nothing.
Sigh.
This is the hardest thing I have ever been through. My poor, sweet baby.
Okay, Rick, I know a woman who had brain cancer. That was five years ago. The other day, a friend told me that she has been pronounced cured. Not in remission, but cured.
Everyone’s right, it’s definitely a fight you can win.
I have nothing concrete to add but my very best wishes for a good recovery and that Rick will be feeling better very soon. I will keep you in my thoughts.
{{{Brynda}}} Oh you poor child – the one person you want most to put his arms around you and tell you it’s going to be okay is lashed to a hospital bed with tubes and wires.
Hope your inlaws and friends and everyone around you is helping communicate the love that’s also flowing from here at the Dope.
Awww {{{{Brynda }}}} ! Hope things improve soon.
Thanks, everyone. We found out today that the cancer is indeed (as suspected) a rare form of kidney cancer. We meet with an oncologist on 1/30, and will hear about treatment options (definitely chemo, maybe something else if they have it) then.
It still feels unreal.
Rick is doing better today–his breathing is better, and he feels better. It is a huge step in the right direction.
Positive thoughts and good wishes are headed your way from the wilds of Wisconsin.
Brynda, you and Rick will be in my prayers for the road you have ahead.
Still thinking good things to y’all and wishing you well. Just take it one day at a time…
Thinking of you and wishing you both the best. It is a tough journey but having each other helps a lot. And we’re here to listen anytime you want to talk.
Good news! Rick is so much better that they are moving him out of the critical care unit! He might even be able to come home early next week!
Hurray!!!
He is still short of breath, but the pulmonologist assured him today that he will recover fully from the lung problems. At least he won’t have to contend with that, which is good because it was seriously affecting his quality of life.
YAY!!!
Woo-woo-woo!!
: does the happy dance :
Woohoo! That is good news! Recovery at home is so much quicker (I have found.) IMO it is because you get to sleep.
Sending you supporting thoughts and him healing ones.
Yay!
We can knock that off the to-do list. What would you like us to be focusing our powerful Dopevibes on now?
Hooray!
So far, so good!
Focus those dopervibes on our oncology appt on 1/30. That’s when we get his prognosis and treatment. I am trying to be positive, but it is hard.
I saw **RickQ **today and I must say he looks pretty darn good. He is pale, but that is his natural color.
, after all.
All good and positive vibes for the 1/30 visit are coming your way. Right now even my toes are crossed for you.
