So I inherited my son's PS3.

If you’re not into serious gameplaying, I recommend the Grand Theft Auto games. Not so much for the gameplay (which is serious), but I love “driving” around and exploring the worlds. Find a 100% save game online, upload that into your console account and play as someone who has all the cars and lands (and weapons!) unlocked. The Los Angeles city and mountains in GTA V are simply stunning.

Also go a little old-school for $10-15 at GameStop, and have fun on your New York (GTA IV) or LA-SF-Vegas (GTA San Andreas) vacation.

Oh, and still blow shit up.

Red Dead Redemption (cited previously) and Saints Row series have terrific sandbox worlds, too. Any others I should try?

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Looks like I have a few games to check out.
So is “God Mode” not a thing anymore? I only ask because I used to have a ST: Voyager game that basically had this. I enjoyed figuring out the missions, but I never had the hand/eye skill required to play the “action” part of the game with out using the “god mode” cheat.
(I suffer from essential tremors which is why it makes it hard for me)

The only game I still yearn to play on my PS3 (I haven’t bothered to hook it up since the move) is Journey, which is more of an experience than a game. No shooting or killing. You’re just a spiritual pilgrim, crossing the desert and climbing a mountain. If there’s anyone still playing out there, you can work together to complete the journey.

Some do, most don’t. Especially on consoles.

Well some console games still have cheat codes. GTA V has plenty, including invincibility and maxing your health and armor:

So if you just want to run around in a big open world and blow stuff up GTA V could be for you. I played the PS4 version before I had a PS4, it’s still very playable even though of course the PS4 version has better graphics.

Also the reason that most games don’t have cheat codes anymore is because usually dying has zero consequences (or very little), eg you just restart from where you were 30 seconds ago, maybe you don’t have all your ammo and weapons you had, maybe you do. So you might find that modern games are fine for you even with the tremors, they’ll take you longer to finish but you’ll still get through them.
