So, I want an internship in Germany

I’m an American, 22 years old and looking to get some experience in PR while improving my German before attending grad school. I’m graduating in May with an unrelated degree.

What can I expect? I understand it’s somewhat harder for non-europeans to get jobs overseas, but that Germany is better than, say, France in this regard. So I’ve got a few questions:

[ul]
[li]Where’s a good place to look for jobs? I can speak German pretty well and have been googling for jobs in German, which seems to give me a slight leg up over the competition, but there doesn’t seem to be a Monster.com for Germany.[/li][li]Can I expect to make a living wage? I’m not looking for anything spectacular, but I’d like to pay my bills on time and have a little spending money left over.[/li][li]Frankfurt sucks! Sorry, no question here, but I had to mention it. Lord, I hate Frankfurt.[/li][li]Wanna give me a job? I’m wanting to specialize in Strategic PR for environmental groups, but I’ll take about anything I can get.[/li][/ul]

There’s 50 listings here on internabroad.com.

3583 hits for Praktikum on the German monster.com

(I never used the site, don’t know how good the results are)

You’re right that internships are more common in Germany than some other European countries.
You might be able to get pay covering living expenses, but not necessarily for your desired job.
